Just used some Fischer Rawlplugs. Life-changing experience.

They didn't rotate ineffectually in my 1920s crumbling bricks, they went in with just a little tap and they didn't fall apart like wet mince when I used a drill to screw in.

Where have these beauties been all my life.

Upcoming Repairathon @ Bayshare/Lancaster Makerspace. Tue 11 Aug

In collaboration with Sewing Café Lancaster, Sunflower Cycles, Control Alt Repeat, Lancaster and Morecambe Repair Cafe and Lancaster and Morecambe Makers, there will be a Repairathon at Lancaster Makerspace and Bayshare on Tue 11 Aug 2026 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Experts can help to fix textiles, clothing, bicycles, ebikes, electricals, electronics, computers, mobile devices and wooden furniture. They will probably have a go with other things, but you might benefit from checking with them first, especially if your item is bulky, to avoid disappointment!

You don't need to pre-book; just turn up on the day. The event is free, but donations are encouraged, to help pay for the venue, equipment and materials.

How are Laptops like this legally able to be sold?

From the UK, but it's a general question?

The performance must be near unusable, as most people's phones have more power.

A 2019 chip that was slow even back then, and has not gotten better 7 years later.

It has to be even worse under windows 11 especially paired with the slow storage and 4GB RAM.

Comic Club 4 Kids at Lancaster Uni Library, Saturday 27 June

A relaxed, inclusive club for ages 7–15 to read, draw and explore comics, make friends, and enjoy a safe creative space.

There’s no pressure, no strict timetable, and no “right” way to take part. Each session is designed to be flexible, letting children choose what they feel like doing on the day – whether that’s curling up with a comic, trying out a new one, sketching characters, building stories, or dipping into artist-led tutorials.

Saturday 27 June  •  10 AM - 11:30 AM

What is your least favourite cycle path in Lancaster?

It is a tough choice, given so many fantastic examples in Lancaster, but I am quite fond of Church Street and the one way street of doom.
