Did y'all see the story about the gibbon and robin fledgling?
I saw this story about a robin fledgling that fell into a gibbon enclosure at the Albuquerque zoo. The gibbon didn't appear to harm the bird and it was reunited with its parents by zookeepers.
All's well that ends well! Fun happy story? Except I see the robin in the keeper's droplet covered hand, and it appears to be aspirating. It looks like they forced water down its beak. I'm honestly really shocked that zookeepers wouldn't know not to put water down a bird's beak.
Maybe I'm not seeing this right? But I can't see any other explanation for a glove with water next to where the bird's gasping beak is being held. I've been told by rehabbers that birds should never be given water directly in their beaks.
