Chopping a G17 to a G19: tips or tricks?

My home state is likely not ditching their 15 round limit anytime soon, and I’ve been stuck using a reduced capacity G17 mag daily. At that point…I have elf-sized hands and am a smaller guy, why not shop the handle to a 19L and gain a benefit of losing two rounds?

Anyone have tricks or advice on this? Current plan is to get a G19 magazine, generally use it as a guide along the side of the G17 and use painter’s tape to mark the cut points.

Before I chop a Glock: Odds of magazine size limit staying even if PICA falls?

If the SCOTUS strikes down the AR ban...I still have a Glock 17 that I have to use reduced size magazines on, and to make it easier to carry I'm debating chopping it into a Glock 19 length to use those magazines. I was all prepped to do this...When the news headline broke.

If that decision does change laws regarding AR-15s and similar weapons...Would magazine limits likely stay in place? I am sitting here with a Dremel tool in hand, do I chop or wait it out?

Cheapest route to getting just a Glock 48 slide?

I’m wanting just the slide to be able to LEGO it with my Glock 43. Brownells is no longer selling theirs, only seeing ‘high end’ third party versions. Are there any more blue-collar replacements out there short of buying the whole Glock 48?

Mounting binoculars on quiver belt?

I compete in field archery where we hike through the woods, and my quiver design doesn’t let me use the usual shoulder slings we typically rely on. I need to find a way to mount my Athlons in a way they clip to a belt or hang off a stable hook without swinging. Ideally able to be grabbed and put back one-handed between shots. Any ideas or solutions?

Evacuation Bag/Case for rifles and accessories?

Key word in the title: I said 'evacuation' and not bugging out into the woods. Years back, my roommates and I got a knock on the door by the fire department explaining there was a major gas leak and the townhouse block had to evacuate NOW. We ended up in a hotel with laptop bags and half-filled backpacks, that moment stuck with me and I try and arrange my preps in a quickly 'portable' format to easily toss things into my car if I have time. I do have a 'This is my bug out bag I loved building' kit, but what happened to my roommates and I was a realistic scenario where we would have liked to be 'packed' but not hoofing it with a shopping cart like Viggo Mortenson.

My next project is redoing my gunsafe with the intent that I stop laying it out like a Batcave and just use it as a protective shell for soft-sided bags to hold all firearms and related equipment. Open the safe, grab the bag, throw it into the car with my other preps and head out to the hotel, friend's house, etc. The guns will live in this bag year-round, whether they get unpacked into a smaller range bag or the bag itself IS the range bag.

I'm looking for a 'plain-looking' bag that will hold the following:
-Standard AR-15, carbine length, with attached sling.
-Ruger 10-22, not the backpacking model sadly but can separate the stock to save space.
-A handful of AR mags and Ruger mags, but not every mag I own.
-Small tool set and cleaning kit.
-Possibly a couple handguns in soft cases.

Emphasis on plain-looking. Not needing MOLLE across the exterior, morale patches, etc. Would like it durable enough for long-term use, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a gun-specific case if there are clever alternatives.

Saving for next year's IRA Deposit: Use a summer gig to fill it, or stick to monthly payments?

The situation: I have already maxed out my 401K contributions pre-tax and use a Roth IRA. I don't qualify for a SEP IRA or HSA. Today's focus is on scheduling how to fund my Roth.

I'm on a bi-weekly pay schedule and save the two extra paychecks as well as my annual holiday bonus to go towards my Roth IRA deposit as each calendar year starts. I set aside a payment every month (about 200 a month) to meet the estimated deposit limit. As the bonus and paychecks go up a couple percent each year with COL increases, my monthly payment gets a hair smaller each year. These payments go into a money market fund, it's currently racking up about 15 bucks a month in interest.

However, I'm going into my second year at a weekend summer job that is more about enjoyment and hobby passion than hourly earnings. Conservatively guessing based on last year, I'll bring home about 3K by the time it ends in September. That's more than enough to 'fill the tank' and let the two extra paychecks and bonus fill the rest by January.

Letting the summer job fill the fund would save me 200 bucks a month in budgeting year-round, but adds some harder pressure to making that amount during those nine weeks. Keeping monthly payments is mentally 'easier' and leaves me with a larger liquid amount after the summer to go towards a bigger emergency fund, home improvements, buying more shares in the summer business, etc. It just comes down to the timing of when money goes into the money market as it waits to be deposited into the Roth.

Found two ‘original’ Waves. Clean and sell, or use them?

Met someone with literal buckets of TSA tools and knives, I saw these and got both for $80 thinking my niece and nephew would like them and I carried a Wave for years. I now realize these are the ‘original’ patent pending version…well dang. I was hoping they’d have bit drivers.

Do I clean these up to resell for a newer model, or just toss them into kits and use them? Sharpening marks on the knife blades and some scuffs but a Coke soak and detailed cleaning would get them looking pretty good.

Next tool mini sailor. Cannot get it reassembled, cannot re-align hinge bushing through opposite hole.

This is after hour three. I am about ready to just buy a new one…used a vice to get the pliers aligned with the bushing, but it will not remotely line up with the opposite hole with the one flat side due to spring tension. Any tricks or just keep it as a beater like this and order a new one?

Seeking a waist-bag for a survival kit

I trimmed down my old Cody-Lundin inspired PSK kit that used to live in a full Mountainsmith butt-pack, and realizing it can fit into something smaller that takes up less room. Ideally: I want it something that is independent of my main backpack, can be worn on-body with it comfortably, and be thrown with my bigger backpack as needed.

Realistic needs:
-Up to a 2L capacity, we're talking a standard fanny pack rather than a 'butt bag' or lumbar pack.
-Color that isn't black or camouflaged.
-Durable, can be beaten around, but does not need to be bombproof.

Options:
A basic REI fanny pack in a bright color?
A very small 'sling pack' that can be carried more ways?
Something that can attach to an Osprey pack, but also be worn independently?

The situation: for ground camping, I'm no longer able to utilize my old Thermarest Neoair Xlite and Xtherm because I now am wider and am a side sleeper. Balancing on my back with my arms hanging off is no longer feasible. However: The Neoair was bought used back before they did the NXT, and the Xtherm was a steal of a deal at REI because it had been patched. They won't be worth enough in resell value to even cover a new rectangular pad, even before shipping and the Ebay cut.

However: I also hammock camp. Would these air pads work alright compared to the usual CCF foam? Can they be modified or optimized for weather not cold enough to require a UQ and pad? I'm not taking hammocks in cold weather, this is colder spring/summer nights at worst.

Relevant gear:

Hammock: An old Eno Doublenest because it came with the shelter kit, or my single layer Dutchware I keep in my car.

Topquilt: Costco blanket with snaps added for a footbox.

Pad options: Old yellow Xlite (5.4 R value) or Xtherm (7.4 R Value), both in a 20 inch width and mummy shaped.

Are there any ways to 'upcycle' these for alternative purposes, such as including them in a more elaborate sleep system or for extra insulation in scenarios where my arms won't fall off?

For example: I also hammock camp. Would these air pads work alright compared to the usual CCF foam? Are there ways to use them in emergency kits that don't require me balancing on them like in a backpacking tent?

Long story involving a lot of physical therapy, but I'm now too wide-shouldered for my old Thermarest pads in addition to settling that I am a side-sleeper. I'm selling off my old pads, and am looking for a backpacking-sized pad that's WIDE, whether it's mummy shape or rectangular. I'm only 5'6 and don't need long length, so bonus points if it's Regular or even Short but wide. Any go-tos with strong reviews and following?

The situation: I'm adding a new page admin to an existing business page, we had to rescue the page from an ex-employee a while back. I have gotten full access without issue and I have full rights in both the page and business portfolio settings.

The problem is, every time I try to add another admin...I get to adding my password to verify my permission, then I get a pop up error window that is COMPLETELY BLANK. Deleted my cache, tried multiple browsers. Same thing. I just tried it in mobile and got a 'error retrieving this page' message.

The context: I have 24 years left on a mortgage I refinanced down to 3% during lockdown. Fifth-Third bank now gives me an option to switch to biweekly payments whereas they couldn't before. They do assure the extra 'full payment' goes to principal only, and it would shave 3 years off my loan with an interest savings of $6,023.

However, running the compound interest math on that extra yearly payment of $943 in an index fund...By the 21st year mark, it's projected to be $52,29. Am I doing my math correctly, or leaving out other beneficial factors?
