Edit Hotel: Kimpton De Witt IHG

Total: ~$1990 (actual)

Paid (after $750 edit & hotel credits): 48.1k points + $446 (I needed points for something else so I paid.)

Room: Premium Room, 2 Twin Beds

Length: 4 Nights broken up into two reservations (May)

Early Check-In: Yes, Checked In at 11:30am

Upgrade: No (Downside of booking 2 twin beds 🙃)

Welcome Amenities: AMAZING Chocolate & Sparking Water

Notes:

- Breakfast is buffet style, but you can get the eggs and coffee made to order. Good balance of savory & sweet options.

- They have a happy hour where they give out free wine everyday. My friend loved it.

- Qualified for the $250 Chase hotel credit as well as the edit credits

- They will not give you two of the $100 credits if you book two separate reservations back to back. Shout out to Chase for rectifying that!

- Remember: The $100 credit is in USD, but everything in the hotel is (obviously) in Euros.

- There’s no pool 😩. It was in the 80s when we were there so it would’ve been nice to have one.

- 10-15min walk from centraal station (easy to get to & from the airport), close to other public transportation, and is walking distance from everything else. I never needed an uber.

- The staff was kind & helpful.

21 Day Refund Policy Thanks To The World Cup

I thought this was interesting…

Edit: thanks for sharing that this is normal if there’s a big event. What threw me off is that the other hotels in the area don’t have the same policy. However, this one (Hyatt Regency LAX) is closer to Sofi than the others who have the 2 day refund policy (ex. Andaz West Hollywood).

Eataly Large Mixed Bag - NYC

I finally got the Eataly bag. I didn’t realize that I bought the large bag until it was too late, but 13 large sandwiches for $13 is a good deal to me

Why doesn't BTS feel overexposed?

(This is meant positively)

Hi! I recently became a fan of the group after trying to prove a point about Katseye’s Grammys performance lol. I fell down a rabbit hole and became enamored by them and their music. I had a question for the Army that’s been with them from the beginning/pre-military service (but anyone can answer):

Their digital footprint is insane; I notice they have nonstop content coming out almost every week (livestreams, vlogs, travel content, etc.), but they don’t feel overexposed.

Why do you think that is?

Disclaimer: I’m posting this with the most positive intentions. I’m just fascinated by the fact that their visibility doesn’t cause the same fatigue like with other artists.

Kimpton De Witt: $100 credit not being honored for the second reservation

I booked two separate stays so I can get all three $250 credits. When I checked in the hotel confirmed that I would get $100 for the first reservation and another $100 for the second. Today when I checked in again and a separate woman told me I couldn’t get the second credit and it was only $100 for the entire stay. I called Chase and they said it’s based on the reservation and I should get it for both.

Has anyone who stayed at this Kimpton or another and faced this issue? Was it honored for both reservations?

It Finally Happened… Reclining Seat Incident

TL;DR: I finally experienced someone aggressively pushing my seat because I slightly reclined my seat during a red eye.

I was on a transatlantic overnight flight out of JFK sitting in the last row of Even More Space (so the standard economy seats were behind me). I get lower back pain sometimes when I fly. So after sitting upright working on my computer for most of the 7-hour flight, I finally tried to recline a little to sleep with a pillow behind my back.

The second I reclined an inch or two, something blocked the seat from going farther, so I adjusted it pulling it up a bit. Anyone who saw it would’ve said, it was barely reclined.

I fell asleep and later woke up because of a loud flight attendant but I noticed my seat kept rocking. At first I thought it was turbulence, but then I realized the passenger behind me was aggressively pushing my seat and eventually forcing it upright. He held it there basically for the rest of the flight.

What bothered me most is that he never asked me to move my seat up. No communication at all, just physically shoving the seat like in those videos.

I know reclining debates are polarizing, but I’ve always been in the “if the seat reclines, people can use it” hive, especially on a 7+ hour red eye. And my seat was barely reclined to begin with. If he had politely asked… I would’ve said “no” lol, but explained it was b/c of my back. That said to repeatedly pushing someone’s seat for hours is wild behavior to me.

TL;DR - Has anyone every bought out a full row for a long flight? What was that like?

For context: I’m traveling to Edinburgh with JetBlue on a redeye flight. I get very uncomfortable when fly more than 6hrs on an overnight flight when I’m going to be sleeping a majority of it. When I originally booked my tickets, mint tickets were almost $9k+ (which was crazy) and now it’s sold out. So now I’m considering purchasing a full row which would be ~$8000 less than what the mint tickets cost.

Just curious, has anyone ever purchased a full row for their flight? What was that like? Is it worth it?

Random: I just noticed that they added a 25 for 25 badge on the dashboard (at least on the app). It’s cool!
