Underrated classic: Dave Monolith - The Ridge

This two song EP spans over 20 minutes and is a masterpiece within the genre. It’s up there with Drukqs in my opinion. Absolute mastery.

A UI change I’d love to see with Mix Channels Now Below

As we all know, Reason has now started adding the mix channel to a new device below the device chain rather than above (as it has always been until now).

I think it would be easier to get used to this change if Reason Studios made a small update to how Mix Channels appear in the rack.

The first image above shows the current setup. Mix Channels appear below the device with the beveled end facing the device and the flat end pointing away. This is counter intuitive. It makes it look like the mix channel is associated with or connected to whatever is below it. Graphically, it would make much more sense to flip it as I suggest in the second image.

Which Aphex Twin song makes you cry and then post about it on Reddit for attention?

If it’s not “all of them” you must be some kind of prick.

I wish you could open an RE in a floating window like you can with a VST

It’s so nice to have a vst synth or whatever open while you are looking at the sequencer view. It’s superior to how REs are handled.

I’m super excited about the new reverb unit. It’s got everything I would ask for — pre-delay, shimmer — and is the modern reverb we all deserve. I use Supermassive all the time. It will be nice to have something high quality and feature rich in a native RE.

I don’t think there’s much else missing from Reason at this point in terms of devices except for one thing: we need a good, modern dynamic EQ. A native replacement for FabFilter would be amazing and is really the only thing Reason lacks in terms of devices. Of course I’m always interested in new players and CV utilities. But we’re good with synths and samplers in my opinion.
