Rabies or a mental health problem?
Situations:
- In the garden: I pricked my finger on a bougainvillea thorn and worried there might have been saliva from the neighbor’s cat on it.
- On the road: I stepped on a branch in the dark and got a small scratch. I worried there might have been saliva on the branch, or that a dog/cat scratched or bit me without noticing, even though my sibling was with me and confirmed nothing happened.
- Riding a bicycle: I rode over dog feces and worried saliva from it splashed onto a scratch on my leg.
- I spent all Saturday trying to remember whether any animal had scratched or bitten me at school between Monday and Thursday, even though I only remember seeing cats from a distance.
In general:
- I constantly try to prove to myself that I’m safe. I keep checking my body and trying to remember where a bite could have happened.
- Even after feeling relieved, I still doubt my memory, even though I’m 18 and should notice if something serious happened.
- GEMlNl said: “If a rabid animal bites you, you would definitely remember it clearly like in 4K,” but I still keep doubting myself.
- I can’t focus at school anymore. I keep thinking about this and can’t concentrate on quizzes, homework, or other tasks.
- My parents think I may have a mental health problem.
Other:
- In the past, I’ve also had OCD-like fears about other things, such as water damage to my laptop/iPhone 11 and mosquito-borne diseases.
Edit for more information: I used to have anxiety in Japanese encephalitis and Dengue fever since my country is famous for dangerous mosquitos, however i can easily bypass this for high survival rate, opposite to rabie, nearly 100% fatality.I sometime overreact when there water around and not seeing water direcly land on the device. In my country, rabie cause by dogs and cats, extremly rare for mouse living in sewer.
