Here are a few of my almost finished POrtal Dashboards

A couple of my Portal Dashboards that I'm pretty much done with tweaking...

Front Door, Lounge and Garden Room.

Lounge and Garden Room ones have Immich screensaver enabled but are not shown here, as these are displayed in the browser so you can see how they work without wonky camera holding

PortalHABridge with Immich Screensaver

PortalHABridge is currently my app of choice on my Meta/Facebook Portals..and it works really well for pretty much everything I need.

I've never bothered with screensavers before, as I'd never look at them, but with several Portals around the home (6 at present), it's nice to have them doing something other than displaying Home Assistant, which, when you don't need that info, is oblivious to everyone.

So using PHAB's built-in screensaver ability and setting up Immich for the first time, I've now got 6 digital photo frames with HA sitting behind them...if HA isnt used, or a scrren isnt touched for 60 second, the screensaver starts, then tap the screen and your instantly back at your HA home screen, then once you've finished, it happily goes back to screensaver mode...and of course with the Portals backend handling ambient lighting control, its never too bright or too dark

Very high on the wife acceptance factor, and it means some of the photos we have taken now actually see the light of day

Portal HA Bridge Home Assistant Splash screen

This one is really nit picking but……

…is it possible to either change the splash screen so it starts black and stays black…

Or better still have the option in the settings to pick white or black

I’ve used this option with FKB in the past and it finished things off really nicely.

Of course it doesn’t impact the usability at all but it’s the final thing right now that just seems a tiny bit clunky on startup, IMO of course

First world problem I know but the small changes on this app so far have made so much difference.

Huge kudos to u/RoadRunner_1024 on an amazing app

Oddities this mornig on just one Portal

I've just powered up the three Portals that are on my study desk, and one of them was at the initial setup… so it had factory reset itself, effectively.

No idea how...It had previously had Immortal installed, had the "test harness" command run, and Immortal reinstalled. FB elements removed, and (this one) was running Fully Kiosk Browser without issue...and it was working fine when I turned it off last night.... Two others were turned off at the same time, and they've both booted into Immortal and then Portal HA Bridge without any issues.

I've rebooted those other two as well to see if anything odd happened with them, and they are fine. Two others that weren't turned off overnight still appear to be fine, but I will power cycle them now.

All three were powered off from about 10 pm last ight till about 11 am today

very odd.mentioned something similar just over a week ago...so im gonna look at some of the replies there... guess it's time to take these things off of the internet, which is a shame as they are great for Smart Tube...but everything else I can serve from within my home on the LAN

First World Problems...waking from sleep

I know this isnt a biggie....but I've been setting up a handful of Portals today and I've got them 99.9% of the way...and they are all great...but one thing is bugging me.

I have Immortal launcher installed, all Facebook gubbins removed and portal HA bridge install (this thing is amazing)

Why is it that with ALL screensavers disabled (basically the one main screensaver in settings, or have I missed one) when the device wakes from sleep...or the screen just turns back on, you get a flash of a screensaver....even though one is not turned on...its like it turns on a screensaver when the screen is off for some odd reason.

Am I missing something stupid here or is there an ADB command I can issue to remove this

TIA

I 3D printed a replacement 10 inch Gen 2 stand....and it's shorter too

The stand arm on the Portal 10 is long...too long in my opinion...and whilst the existing stand also includes an adapter to change the size of the barrel plug, it can be worked around

So I 3D printed a very simple tube with a cut out....so that the cable isnt as restricted (less filament use too)....you will of course NEED a barrel adjuster (this will step the initial cable/conenctor from 4.0x1.7 to 5.5x2.5 to fir into the rear of the Portal), which I have coming in the next day or two) but otherwise this new stand fits fine, gives stability and is held in by friction...(I did look into making a like for like copy but it was a pain)

It's an incredibly simple print, just a hollow tube with the external dimensions giving a friction fit...being 25.1mm in diameter.....took a couple of attempts to get the size dialled in due to printing tolerances. This stand arm is currently 6cm long but can obviously easily be printed shorter to adjust the tilt. If the tilt is more extreme, a right-angled adapter might be needed too, but I will test that on the ones I have coming for the wall cradle (see below)

As you can see from the pics, it's still a lot shorter than the existing arm, but the tilt is similar; again, it's easy to make it tilt more if needed....

I'm also working on a wall cradle for this 10-inch device...again waiting for some barrel adapters; in this case two are needed to change size (4.0x1.7 to 5.5x2.1, then 5.5x21 to 5.5x2.5 ) and second of which adds a 90-degree turn so it can sit nice and close to the wall... hopefully I'll have some more details on that one shortly...waiting to get the adapters before I confirm it's all good

I've attached a picture of it in the cradle above my existing Amazon tablet in a 3D printed frame to give you an idea of how it looks.

The low-profile cradle looks great, gives adequate support, but it's easy to remove the Portal if needed (of course, power is already coming through the wall to make the install simple....and of course, no more batteries to worry about

Any questions, let me know

Dunwich Dynamo 2026 - First time...that was AWESOME

Let's ignore the fact my friend had his bike nicked from outside the Pub On the Park by some absolute scrote...

And let's give his other half some huge kudos for bringing his spare bike from Suffolk most of the way to London, so said friend could then ride the "Dun Run" anyway

After a little "to and fro" we were ready to set off.

It would be my first Dun Run, my longest ride yet and the first time I had ridden ovenight and well into the next day.

And ignoring the early setback...just WOW

The weather was looking bad as late as midweek, but just the day before, the forecast showed the rain had gone....so no excuse now...just had to get it done.

The start was pretty tame...no mass start, just go when you're ready.

Getting out of Hackney was pretty calm...and making use of the myriad of bike lanes from central London almost all the way to Walthamstow....and even though we had been warned the road can be bedlam around Epping, things were actually pretty calm...and then the traffic started to disperse and we ended up pretty much with the road to ourselves....marked with a long stream of red lights as far as the eye could see.

First stop, The White Hart pub in Moreton....a quick drink, water refill and toilet break, then on our way again towards Dunmow.

I found some speed at at this point and stretched my legs a little, pretty much all the way to the bridge over the river at Dunmow...then stopped at the Grace Cafe where the lovel Karen made me an amazing fish finger sandwich and spoilt me with an amazing piece of Victoira sponge,...this really sorted me out and gave me that much needed energy boost to power me for the next few hours.

From here we pushed on through the next couple of stops, passing through Finchingfield and being ,slightly annoyed that the McD's at Sudbury wasn't open but stopping at The White Horse in Great Waldingfield for a great burger and coffee... and then pushing on until the Framlingham....

Sadly, a little rain did appear, but not really until we left Framlingham and then pushed on till the end and it was far from heavy and more for a damp squib....after our host stopped off and made us bacon butties and coffee to keep the last stretch fueled...next stopped the beach at Dunwich

It did mean the ending wasn't quite the amazing sunrise we were hoping for; in fact, it was pretty dreary...so we about-turned and headed back to Darsham station, where my journey started, so I grabbed my car and went back to Framlingham for a shower and some sleep before heading home to Colchester.

Will I be back? You bet I will...hopefully I'll just get it done next time with as little stopping as possible....and hopefully drag along a few other friends.

Can't believe I felt so fresh for the entire ride...even though I started at 8:25 and actually finished almost 11 hours later (with stops)...I should be a jibbering wreck...but the lack of traffic and the incredibly mild weather meant it was one of my best long rides.

A huge thank you to everyone who posted info and links to more info about every aspect of the ride...thanks to everyone at all of the stops for keeping us fed and watered, thank you to everyone who said hello...thank you to all the supporters sitting at the side of the road all through the night to cheer us on..

This event is amazing....a fully unsponsored ride that people just DO without any confusion or conflict...

Thank you, thank you, thank you

No new achievements earned during this activity.??

what does this mean...these were done a few days ago and Ive had emails to say "Congrats, you have new achievements" and that email stated I had gained 132.6 km (which is a little odd as the whole 137km ride was new) but it did have those details emailed to me (same for ride the enxt day too) but they dont show any details at all on the web ui

Am I missing something silly here...I tried the reprocess option as well, but nothing has changed

Thanks in advance

E1 Crank Boots - specifically Rival

I want to grab some crank boots for my 1x13 XPLR Rival cranks

Ive found some locally online but they are all labelled up as Force Crank Boots....so Im wondering if all cranks are the same size (albeit probably different materials/weight)

TIA

Assuming they don't fit (looks like they don't) has anyone found any aftermarket ones that do fit....

Garmin Varia - MyBikeTraffic - some info has just stopped

13 rides ago, all of my rides on my Garmin Varia were happily displaying on my headunit and also filling all the coumns of data on my post bike report

As you can see from the screenshots, the last ride that recorded both the Avg Pass and Max Pass speeds was on the 23rd May...but the latest (and all other rides since that last one) still show that data on the full map...but those details are no longer in the table.

I've tried relinking my Varia, but it's not made a difference. I've also tried to change what stats are shown on my headunit (not that I think that makes a difference either) but it's not made a difference anyway

To be clear....everything on the Varia is working fine... It's just the post-ride report that has changed at some point

Is anone seeing similar? Is this by design?

Stava, and it's API going behind the paywall

So like many, I saw the message about the API going behind the paywall and didnt think much of it or the impact it would have on me, if any

However, after thinking about it, there is going to be an impact as I use several third-party integrations in things like Home Assistant and also multiple web apps which also access my Strava data...Wandrer.earth, StatsHunter etc

So what next? I really don't want to pay for Strava Premium as I won't be using much, if any, of the premium features apart from the API, but IM not sure that has the value they want to charge me

So I've decided to try to leverage my available options.... mainly Garmin Connect...bit to also involve AI in helping me to write some very basic dockers that will allow me to sync my data from Apple Watch runs via HealthFit that Ive had for ages (and already use it to send data to intervals.icu) to now send my fit files to a location and then another docker instance that then uploads my same fitfiles into Garmin automatically...which I would otherwise need to purchase./subscribe to RunGap for....but after about 30 minutes of back and forth with Google Gemini I've got the two dockers running well and syncing and then importing my runs Apple watch runs directly into Garmin (which isnt possible any other free way)

The next thing will be to extract all the data from Garmin into InFluxDB to be able to manipulate that in the way I've become accustomed to.

I never really saw any benefit in AI before today....and honestly thought it was mainly for creating stupid videos and pictures...but this has opened my eyes as it has enabled me to create something that I'd never have managed on my own in another 5+ years (I'm certainly no coder)

To have two new fully automated docker containers created and running inside of two hours is quite impressive, to me anyway

Misleading Points Totals (UK)

I do my quick Rewards tasks at the start of each day..., and it's definitely been beneficial over the past 10 months, where I've earned around £70 worth of spendable vouchers for stores here in the UK

But I've recently noticed an odd discrepancy between the available points total and today's section points that makes no sense.

For example, yesterday, when everything had been completed, I had 1876 points showing...that was up from 1501 the day before, after earning a total of 375 points in total

But today, when opening up the rewards page, having done nothing at all yet, whilst the ongoing total had the same 1876 it said last night, the top banner claimed I had already earned 336 points from today...but that is cearly not the case.then as I go on to the days tasks, things go up as expected...but this will be the same tomorrow...and day after day, I know as Ive been monitoring this for well over 3 qeeks now.

clearly something is wrong here...or at the very least, misleading...I can't be the only person who is seeing this

That, along with the fact that the mobile check-in is no longer a thing (for the past 2 weeks or so) and the general mobile punch card seems to now be gone

Am I going mad?

Having come from Phantom and Mavics before it, I was eager to test out the Neo 2 for its "follow me" mode, mainly when cycling, but also when doing some running training as well.

Got it the day before yesterday, tested and updated three batteries and then took it on a ride with a friend yesterday and put it through its paces.

It did an amazing job, and the footage allowed me to put this video together...it just works...and really, really well...Can see this always being in my riding vest going forward on gravel rides
