40-Year Aerospace Engineer - AMA

I also built my first AI application as a Boeing engineer in 1990. It's been a long, fun ride and is still going strong. The original Star Trek series - that I watched when I was around 7- 8 years old - was what I think triggered my future path in AI. "The Ultimate Computer" episode burned itself into my brain, and that's why I think I figured out AI naturally in 1990 and got it working like a screaming demon.

I graduated from Auburn University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering. I took Master's levels courses later at two different universities in dynamics, controls, and robotics, but never completed the Master's degree.

Fellow KLR Rider at Stoplight

I met a fellow KLR Rider at a stoplight here in Cullman. I should have gotten his number. That is the second adventure bike I've run into in about 2 weeks here.

Passing a Tractor

Went for a ride in the country - my excitement for the day was passing a tractor ... 😆 But it was a beautiful ride nonetheless.

Road out from Flint Creek OHV Park (trails for dirt bikes and ATVs) in Alabama - this was on the way back.

It was too late in the day to hit the trails as it had taken me a while to find this place. The main road in/out (dirt with gravel scattered on top) required a dirt bike (my KLR did just fine) - between all the loose gravel, ruts in the road, and in some places drop-offs on the side, it was interesting.

I would have gone faster, but at times pickup trucks would be coming the other way, and they took up most of the road.

This was my first drone - while it's several generations old now, it's an amazing and very capable aircraft. Near the end of the video, I flew her out 3 km to an island (that part is sped up because it takes so long).
