This is the set up right now i am currently using paper towels because hes a baby. I have the heat light coming tomorrow morning and one more hide the light I’ll put the picture of the lights I have coming in can you let me know if these are good for a 40 gallon as well? I have the 75w because I heard someone say that was good for a 40 gallon

First crested gecko

This is gonna be my first time getting a crested geckos I plan on getting the biggest tank I can find with lots of climbing room I did the research on food and lighting I know I want a naturalistic enclosure for now since I’m only js beginning the only thing I’m confused about is the substrate I I’m hearing for baby’s start on paper towels but I seen videos saying I need to layer the substrate? Is it the same for naturalistic enclosures? I’m planning on getting him as a baby but they don’t eat much bugs like bearded dragon babys or leopard geckos so is it safe to use substrate?
