Fabric collection

Been collecting for a few years now, most of the patterns are from surplus. Gathered in many local fabric shops across Europe.

If someone has some nice fabrics, I would gladly trade.

Zaslon kit in action

Made almost everything of the Nylon gear myself. Last Goplit Prototype is in production with small measurement changes to the one shown here.

Of course it's optimized to my play style, but I think it's close enough.

Overwhelmingly much concamo

The saga continues, my fabric shop is still giving gems.

I know the main three concamo variants, green, brown, beige.

All depicted here, but two I don't know of, a lighter beige and a darker version.

Can anyone name them? Are they Test versions?

Anyone seen these Phantom Leaf camos?

Got these two camos with the phantom leaf logo on it and I can't find any information on them. One is a mesh the other one some kind of sport fabric.

Bike helmet sun protection

Made myself a neck protector for my month long bikepacking journey from Germany to Spain.

With temperatures exceeding 40°C, I never got issues with my neck.

I built 2 versions, the first with a 50 upf rating and eyelets for a cord in the front. And the second with non rated material that is more breathable. In the End the second material was good enough and the better pick.

For the next iteration I would shrink it in the back and add more around the ears for increased and more efficient coverage.

V1 Frag Belt

First time trying out laser-cut PALS. Designed everything myself and made it using standard BW Spec 500D Cordura. Learned a ton from this iteration, so there are definitely a few things I need to tweak in the design. Long-term, I’m curious to see how the raw edges hold up in terms of durability.

The design uses tighter PALS spacing—35mm instead of the standard 38mm. This bumps the PALS count up to 6 on the back and 8+1 on the sides. I still need to test this with larger pouches, but smaller ones should be fine.

I sewed in plastic sheets for rigidity, but I need to switch to a removable design because of manufacturing headaches.

The buckles and webbing are just temporary for now. Also, a quick note on the tightening mechanism: instead of pulling the straps to the sides, you pull them toward the front, which makes tensioning it a lot easier.

You still get the full webbing running across the belt for drop holster setups, plus I added two access holes on both sides. Lastly, there are two loops for extra gear attachment.

Definitely a work in progress—lots of testing and overhauling to do. Curious to hear what you guys think!

All these features need to be tested and overhauled.

Part 2 local fabric shop

Today I got some nice phantom leaf, concamo and M05 winter Woodland.

Phantom leaf mesh had some big printing errors, but they were so nice to sort out the bad parts.

To much curve?

I want to design a modern frag belt and need to know if there is such a thing as to much curve.

1 is a direct copy of the crye frag belt

2 is the same but more pronounced

What do you prefer?

Tbh I don't see much, beside the overall length.

Buran Spacecraft for Unreal project

For my final project in my 3D design apprenticeship, I recreated the Buran space shuttle hangar at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan as a real-time Unreal Engine environment, optimized for a gaming setting. The goal was to complete the project within 2–3 months.

The environment was built in Blender and assembled in Unreal Engine. Textures were created in Substance Designer, which was a new tool for me but turned out to be very useful and efficient.

I am actually quite lucky, because my country Germany hosts the only Buran aircraft outside Russia and Kazakhstan. I found it at the Technik Museum in Speyer.

After about 11 hours of train travel and a night in the wilderness, I arrived at Speyer. The museum is overwhelming, with a huge collection of aviation, space, and automotive tech. And of course, the Buran itself — a test vehicle used for testing the onboard landing system and heat generation.

In the end I took almost 1500 photos. After an even longer way back I edited the images in Lightroom and imported all 1480 of them into RealityCapture. The problem was that only about 1100 of the 1480 images aligned. I changed settings in both RealityCapture and Lightroom and managed to get it up to around 1260 aligned images. Stitching groups didn’t really help because of low success rates.

After that came the next problem: holes in the 3D mesh and almost zero data for the underside. After trying multiple times with limited success, I eventually just bit the bullet and left it like that, and moved on to retopo.

The model was retopologized in Blender and the diffuse map was baked to the low poly in Marmoset. Missing areas were manually filled in Photoshop, with some additional Gemini-generated textures for the belly. I skipped a normal map due to time constraints.

Additional decals and some miscellaneous items later, the project was finished. I am very proud of the result, especially because I didn’t use any premade assets or textures from the internet.

Good day at the local fabric store

After almost 2 years shopping there, they let me in the Backrooms looking through unsorted stuff. They told me the fabrics come from all over the world.

Because none of the fabrics got a name on them,

Can someone Identify, where this stuff was produced?

Or where it's used on?

Some stuff I saw:

NFP

All Flecktarn variants: 5ftd, 3ftd, Schneetarn and a bit Multitarn.

Sadly the Multitarn is some very light ripstop and a small piece 500d Cordura style piece without coating.

M98 Norwegian thin, but with cotton

Swedish M90, M90 desert and the new smaller scale one with the crowns (the ladder also some very thin synthetic)

M20 Latvia, Like the Multitarn

Some elastic fabrics, Spanish I think and some fake Multicam

None of them have any coating like dwr

Edit: I am now pretty sure the light fabrics are test prints from the factory, to test calibration and colors.

Camos I own that are printed on these very light fabrics: 5ftd, New M90, M20, Taz16, Multitarn

Anyone know in which country and factory they are produced in?

Custom Fort Redut

A reproduction of the mentioned Russian body armor, that was used in the early 2000s.

It's my first prototype made to test scale, fitment and production, made out of an original NVA Tarp.

Filled with PE foam and rubber mats.

Some things I need to work on is the block padding on the inside and shoulders, I just struggle getting them right (last two pictures).

Custom Redut

Another WIP project of mine.

This is the first prototype of a custom FSB Redut in Strichtarn, made out of a NVA tarp.

Pattern is mostly complete, but I lack some skills to make proper block padding.

So until I sort that out I won't sell these.

But if someone has a front neck protector of an og Redut, please please help me out getting that part accurate.

Kit I made

What I made:

Plate carrier

Dummy Plates made out of Rubber mats

Matching Quad Mag Placard Velcro attached

War Belt

Taco Mag pouch

Rigid Dump pouch

Multi purpose Pouch, based on Tasmanian Tiger Pouch

Based on Russian gear used by the security of embassadors.

Everything is still work in progress, Taco pouch is to narrow, Dump pouch needs Grommets, labels need to be replaced and a bit more.

But it's fully usable right now and really fun to play with.

DIY Goplit Kit

Sewed myself a Goplit Slick + belt and some pouches.

Still WIP, but I ran it once on the field and it’s pretty fun so far.

PC’s filled with rubber mats atm, comes out to ~6,5 kg loaded.

For those asking about buying one, I’m currently working on sourcing proper logos/labels, after that I can start making some for you guys.

Rigid Dump pouch

The design is based on an Eagle Industries dump pouch which I wanted to try out.

I chose 1 mm PP. It’s a bit stiff for my liking, but that’s the thinnest my plastic dealer had.

Overall I’m really happy with how it turned out, especially for a first design. The most important part was seeing if it was possible with my machines and skill.

For the next gen I’ll change the height of the inner bag to better accommodate closing it with the shock cord, as well as changing the height where the cord is attached.

In addition, I’ll get the right eyelets for all the holes.
