I picked up this stereo receiver today from Facebook Marketplace. The seller said it had never been used and had never been taken out of the box, so it’s basically new old stock. I’ve been trying to find information on the model, but there seems to be very little online. Does anyone here recognize it or know anything more about Planar as a manufacturer?
I spent the past month picking up stereo equipment from yard sales, estate sales, Marketplace, and Craigslist. I sold a bunch of it, but I still have a lot left. Do you guys have any advice on how I can become a more disciplined hoarder?
The auto functions all work, and the needle was recently replaced. It's in pretty good condition, and I already have someone interested, so I just want to come up with a reasonable price.
The photo is from a Marketplace listing simply titled “Free Equipment,” with no description at all. I contacted the seller, drove about an hour to pick everything up, and learned when I arrived that their parent had passed away and they were clearing out the estate. The seller also had several floor-standing speakers, but someone else had already arranged to pick those up.

Everything powers on. The only issue noted so far is the Polk Audio PSW50, which needs a replacement volume knob.
About a 4.5-hour round trip, but I think it was worth it. Everything works, and I paid $200 for the lot, including a pair of KLH speakers.
I have an 1872 copy of The Liberator: His Life and Times by M. F. Cusack with a worn green cloth binding.
I emailed the Poison Book Project to ask whether this edition is known to contain arsenic or should be tested.
In the meantime, does this look like the type of 19th-century green binding that warrants extra caution?
