How do you deal with the daily aches and pains?

I am 60 and was diagnosed with post traumatic subtalar arthritis (the joint just under the ankle). I miss the way I used to feel just walking with no ache in my right foot. Must I live on daily Advil? Only solution is a fusion surgery but I don’t want to live with a brick of a foot. Not eligible for ankle replacement cuz it’s below the ankle affected. Help.

Anyone in here have ankle fusion surgery?

Hello - I’ve just been told that I need a subtalar fusion on my ankle due to post traumatic arthritis. Such a rare thing. Anyone have experience?

Subtalar fusion - scared af

Last year I had a hairline talus fracture. This year I was told that I now have post traumatic subtalar arthritis and need ST fusion. Petrified of this and restricted motion. Does anyone know if I can get an ankle replacement in the future if I go ahead with this ST fusion?

Subtalar fusion needed - TAR possible?

I have post traumatic subtalar arthritis and my orthopedic surgeon wants to do a subtalar fusion. From what I understand I’m not eligible for a TAR because different joints are affected. Have any of you worked with subtalar fusion patients and how does it differ from other ankle fusion patients?

Good ortho ankle surgeon

Welp I need to have ankle fusion surgery and it’s a pretty serious thing. I’m looking at Hospital for Special Surgery and NYU Langone. Anyone have any experience with ankle surgeries at either hospital? Thank you

Anyone in here have ankle fusion surgery?

Diagnosed with post traumatic arthritis. Didn’t even know it was a thing. Dr said I need an ankle fusion. Sounds barbaric honestly. Fusing bones, long painful recovery. Anyone familiar?

Ankle fusion or amputation?

I’m an active 60 year old woman with an old injury (broken talus) that has now resulted in post traumatic arthritis. I went to crème de la crème HSS and thr dr said, “sub talar fusion.” I was shocked tbh since the hospital is top of the line in the US. Why such a barbaric drastic survery? Do they not have plasma injections, etc?

I’ve read how awful fusion is and the recovery is painful and looooooong. And in many cases doesn’t even fix the issue, only leads to more issues.

Some of said to go for amputation instead seeing as one would get range of motion and believe it or not, a shorter recovery. Any advice?

Dizziness upon waking up

Recently turned 60 and when I move from lying down position to standing I become dizzy. it resolves in a few minutes but it’s an unsettling walk to the bathroom. I’m not on any medications, well hydrated and my borderline high blood pressure is currently being monitored. Am I just getting older?

Fat depressed husband

That’s it. I’m living with an obese retired man who does nothing but complain about shortness of breath, sore back and feet but refuses to go to the doctor. Why? Because they would advise him to lose weight. They have already but he’s lazy. I am at a healthy weight and if I ask him to walk with me, he refuses and tells me he doesn’t care if he dies. When I suggest he speak to a therapist he refuses. I’ve given up and feel bad about it but it’s been two years now.

Anyone else with ankle surgery? How was non weight bearing ?

Unfortunately I have to have ankle ligament/tendon repair soon. I’m all kinds of nervous about being non weight bearing for 6 weeks. I mean, how do I even get into the house post-surgery? There are steps into my house.
