Bracelets for a Scurfa

Managed to pick up an MS26 model.

I’m not desperate to have it on a bracelet, but might end up getting one down the line.

I’m aware scurfa offer bracelets directly, but they’re not in stock. Also slightly curious about how decent 3rd party bracelets would compare (if they fit the case), because I see them so highly regarded and being touted as a direct upgrade for many watches at lower price brackets.

So anyone got advice on picking up a bracelet ?

Also curious what types of bracelet would work.

[discussion] Which watch styles to splash out on more?

Like most people, my watches will inevitably span different price ranges.

I’m curious which types of watches you would spend a bit more on, compared to the rest of your collection, and why.

Like if you were to only have a couple watches you stretch the budget for, what would they be.

Dive watches, imo, work very well as more affordable beater watches, especially if you plan to actually dive with it. But at the same time there are also some insanely appealing luxury dive watches.

Iced coffee options

I live in a warm student apartment, with a single tiny freezer drawer, so I only have 1 small ice tray.

This means I’m not able, or it’s very difficult to brew hot coffee onto enough ice for it to be suitably cold.

My current thoughts are to make a kind of espresso thing with my moka pot, chill it overnight in the fridge, then add cold water and ice in the morning. To make an iced americano -esque thing.

Or to try make a small (limited fridge space) cold brew type thing. Maybe in my aeropress?

I’ll be drinking it black, without milk or any additions.

Any tips on what to do??

Dalton Papali’i torn Achilles in pre-season.

Brought to my attention by a comment by u/Putrid-Impact8999. Was also surprised it hasn’t been posted

Was looking forward to seeing him at Castres. But expected at least 6 months out.

UK cooking stocks situation

So I understand that the difference in quality of stock is immensely important to how a meal turns out.

So I’m curious what you do for stock, and what compromises you settle on?

I’m a student, so have plenty of limitations in terms of : time, money, ingredient/fridge space and convenience. I don’t have the time or storage to make my own, so tend to just get stock cubes, I’ve tried a few different mainstream brands and none seem much better than the others.

I am curious about what point the jump in price/convenience is worth it for me.

Making highlights retroactively

So I’m not much of a social media user, and have tended to not post at all, but I’m now looking to build my Instagram up to be something that actually shows some of my life.

I’m thinking of setting up some highlights, for things that have happened in the past few years, since it would be a bit weird to make a normal post on it now.

As I understand, the photos have to go through your story to be put on a highlights.

I’ve seen some ways to do it, where you can post to your story, and make it unviewable to your followers, so they don’t get spammed with random photos.

But wouldn’t the date for all these photos show it being today. Instead of the date the photo was actually taken?

Gemini express??

Got this as a gift, and looking for advice. For reference I’m used to an aeropress.

I understand the basics of how a moka pot works, albeit I haven’t used one before, and understand this is a slightly unconventional one.

The instructions from the Gemini express website seem a bit awkward. Saying to only use course grind, and to discard the first few cups of coffee you make with it.

It says a few times how’s not a ‘normal’ moka pot. But I’m unsure if they’re just trying to market it as a different product to get people who already own a normal moka pot to buy it.

Also slightly confusing with the reducer filter, and how much coffee to use.

Anyone familiar with this, able to give any advice??

Favourite rugby jerseys to wear out?

Seeing so many football tops with the World Cup on atm, and it’s had me thinking that you also just see quite a few in day to day life in the uk (especially in summer).

It’s got me quite keen to start buying kits with the intention of wearing them out, instead of purely to support that team, or to wear to training.

Also my social media is currently filled with some absolutely unreal kits, like the Japan anniversary one, the limited edition Hong Kong sevens one, the ‘le crunch’ kit, etc.

I know it’s entirely subjective, but I find most rugby shirts too sponsor filled, chaotic or busy to want to wear outside of watching, or playing rugby. And there are tons of jersey that I think look great, but would also just never wear out. Heritage or anniversary kits seem to be much better, but are often hard to get in stock.

Just curious for some ideas

Non-military uses for starbases

I’m a fairly new player, so apologies if this comes across as stupid.

But in my head, starbases are for defensive, or shipbuilding uses.

Idk why, I know there’s tons of other things you can put on them, I just think of them as insignificant for a single star base, and if you needed to reconfigure all starbases, you may as well just use a planet for the resource.

So any advice on non-military uses for starbases??

Like systems to look out for to use a certain building, or whatever (I presume there’s certain synergises that are good).

Currently playing a devouring swarm, where there’s not gonna be as much focus on being defensive, may as well use some for other things.

Some core campaign styles

Only ever played with humans, or fairly basic humanoid species.

Now looking to experience some of the different options. Obviously nomads will be a good example when it drops

For example,

a flood-esque hive mind devouring swarm

Machine empire gestalt

Necroid necrophage

Some type of tall megacorp, focused on trade or personal gain.

A statecraft/diplomatic focused run.

Some type of shroud-focused run etc

Favourite off-meta or anti-meta setups?

I dislike chasing the meta, and the fact that sticking any new equipment on a bot, is somehow better than carefully curated setups.

My atomizer dux is extremely fun for damage, it just doesn’t have much in the way of survivability, or ways to initiate fights/escape.

So in the few situations where I can just sit and pump out damage (e.g. when other allied bots are chipping down a titan or super tank), it’s very fun.

My arbiter Newton has absolutely insane damage potential if I can control engagement range from enemy titans, or if the game is fortunately quite locked into a stalemate. It’s definitely not a consistent setup but my highest damage games often end up being when I use this, instead of my ‘main’ titan- which is a Indra that’s about 100 levels higher.

Shoggoth advice

Luckily I pulled a Shoggoth, but no idea what weapons to run on it. I have 1 Shantak, so maybe could wait for a few more of the new weapons.

I’ve tried gauss, and they feel awful. Hel/skadi were marginally better.

I have piercers I could upgrade, but no idea what med weapon to go with them.

Potentially I could use the Decays from my Nuo, which I’m sure would be good- but considering that’s one of my strongest bots, unsure I want to break it up.

What are Beziers cooking up?

Signed a young Welsh prospect, who has been considered an exciting talent in Mackenzie Martin from the dragons (also isn’t this now making him ineligible for wales?)

Signed Malakai Fekitoa.

And seem to have got rid of like 20 players, many of which seem like regular starters.

Edit; I meant this as a question from a mostly confused perspective, with the niche nature of their signings, alongside entire squad culling

It’s not that I think they’ve got a master plan, or super exciting.

Shoggoth weapons

I have 1 Shantak, which I assume it worth using (and hopefully is at least usable after the inevitable nerfs).

Alternatively I have 2 piercers.

I also have crisis, gauss, and various shorter range weapons. Struggling a little for medium slots.

Wondering what I should run, any advice ??

Hastatus / Shoggoth advice?

Returning player.

Just before I stopped playing, I pulled a hastatus from a drop. And from my returning player
awards, I just got a Shoggoth.

Got some questions before dumping resources into 1 or both of these

HASTATUS

I’ve tried pilum and gladius, but the firing cycle seems too long considering Hastatus is weak without its ability, I think a more hit-and-run weapon to work around cover is the way to go? Any advice on what weapons to run?? Or other effective playstyles.

I also think speed feels insanely important, since it feels slow and difficult to peak around cover atm. Is this correct?

I’ve got the speed boost pilot, is he good to invest in? Or is the shieldbreaker one much better.

And finally, which drones to run? Considering I don’t have all of them, and even less so the ability to upgrade them.

SHOGGOTH

Don’t have much idea about this bot, tried to watch some YouTube tutorials, but when YouTubers spam mk3 meta weapons and ult conduit - it makes it hard to determine realistic survivability etc.

Firstly, is it worth investing in?? I can’t tell if its ability will keep it relevant long term (at least for some role), or if it’s too prone to heavy survivability or ability nerfs.

And then the usuals- what weapons? Is it purely a sniper range bot? Or are there synergies with other playstyles. I have 1 Shantak I can use, which I assume will be the best.

I’m a new player, having played 1 campaign into the end game, and have 1 other failed campaign. I have all the DLC’s.

I understand that the customisability, and diverse open book of factions is a big selling point of this game. However I’m not that creative, and struggle to get immersed enough to have an idea/vision of a faction to then make and play with. Especially the minimal lore, or other media forms I’ve found set within this universe (In the past I’ve tended to prefer game universes with already established lore and identities. Diving into warhammer fantasy lore helped with getting into total war Warhammer 3).

What are, in your opinion, some archetypal, or ‘classic’ faction ideas??

Due to being a new player, they don’t have to be super complex, just want some things to spike my attention enough to dive into a campaign.

After a few years of using my Aeropress, I’ve settled on an extremely low effort recipe. I used to try more precise, and tedious methods, but didn’t find a noticeable improvement in coffee, and kind of settled on low effort.

I don’t have any complaints with my current method per se, but I’m curious to expand a little.

I mainly brew upright, using grind size of early 20s on Encore ESP (or whatever is just above the Espresso grind ranges).

I let the water just filter through, then press out the remaining bit; which usually leads to a ~90 seconds to 2mins brew time. Volume of water is just the full aeropress.

I stopped stirring, since I find it actually didn’t make a difference, assuming you can kind of use the pour to agitate everything. I found that inverted often masked some nuance of some lighter roast beans. So stopped doing that to reach more of a pourover profile.

Sometimes I’ll want a more cafetière-style cup

So I grind a bit courser, and use a prismo, and like a 5 min brew time (I do have a real french press, but it’s a bit unwieldy for a single coffee).

I’m looking for ways to either improve, or side grades for my low effort recipes.

So my first campaign consisted of me quickly putting research onto auto, since I was already overwhelmed enough by learning the rest of the game.

In a few attempted campaigns since, I’ve tried to be more deliberate, but I find most of the tech’s seem pretty useless, and I feel like even when I try to spec towards research, and try develop faster I don’t really feel like it’s that helpful when so much of the tech’s don’t seem that important.

I understand there’s some randomisation (I think?), but I swear I get tons of the minor 5%, 10% buffs, or random niche buildings unlocks, before I unlock the ability to build like an energy generation district or other things that just feel like core techs you’d want early.

Am I doing something completely wrong, or is this experience just how research works.
