Prolific, probably the best survey site due to it being a university controlled survey site. They pay anywhere from $1- I've seen $50 for studies. Last April was the month it started. We had to close one of our two hamburger restaurants. It just never recovered from Covid and we couldn’t afford to keep it open after 10 years, we closed the doors. Shortly after that I was put in the hospital with double pneumonia which was then diagnosed with ILD (interstinsal lung disease) and now am on oxygen, have been hospitalized 8 times this past year with chronic respiratory failure, collapsed lung and pneumonia. It’s a constant dance that has taken me away from our business and putting so much responsibility on my perfect wife.
Now we’re losing our house. We stupidly bought it during Covid and we plain can afford it anymore. We’re doing a quick sell that’s not gonna cover the extent of the mortgage but it’s whatever. We’re moving into my MIL house which is big enough to accommodate all of us and it gives grandma vital time with the grandkids.
It’s been very hard to not let this break my wife and I. We’re focused on the money we’ll be able to save, the family memories we will create over the next couple of years and showing our teenage girls that it’s ok to fall down in life. That you have your ups and your downs, that things can’t always go your way and you have to sacrifice for the things you want to accomplish in the future.
My kids are at school and I’m packing and moving stuff into a storage and crying. But this time next year I’ll have different problems and stronger because of this lesson. Stay positive people, times are hard now and probably won’t get any easier anytime soon.
