Placing Illager banners prevents Wandering Trader spawns in a small area

I don't want an unwelcome guest with two smelly animals constantly wandering around my compound making noises. Logically why would one go near a base covered in Illager iconography? It makes sense and gives a use to an otherwise decorative drop.

I hate mining and exploring post Caves and Cliffs so much

I think I'm finally getting to my old man yells at cloud phase but I hate modern Minecraft worldgen so much. Big caves like this used to be a rare sight and very special. Mountains would be huge spectacles that often defied logic and had floating chunks with strange surfaces. Now everything is a huge cave full of mobs that just immediately rush you from all directions and it's impossible to light them up fully because they span thousands of blocks in all directions with little ledges somewhere ten blocks up that has just enough darkness to spawn more.

Everything's the same four biomes for lightyears from spawn and the oceans are more like small lakes. Structures are everywhere. I remember when finding a dungeon was special.

But I can excuse all of this, all of it, with one small exception: I fucking despise deepslate for all it stands for and hope the person responsible for it develops an autoimmune disease. "Ooouuhhh let's make the bottom half of the world take nine business days to mine through!" As if having four different stone types filling our inventory wasn't annoying enough, at least the patches of diorite granite and the other one have the decency of breaking the same speed as stone!

[Batman Arkham Knight] What is the purpose of the tanks?

They're unmanned so Batman can blow them up and apparently controlled by one single operator remotely, so they're slow and inefficient.

They're not actively suppressing a civilian population because the civilians are gone and the rioters aren't concerned with attacking the militia, if not actively working with them to cause chaos. The police are completely impotent and hiding in their police department.

And of course they cost millions of dollars to develop and field meanwhile the militia had to cut a deal with The Penguin for rifles that apparently aren't very high quality.

It seems to me like fielding more patrols with rifles would've been more effective, Batman only brought the Batmobile in response to the tanks anyways.

I found an efficient jewel farming method

Preresiquites:

Jewel Sword (Obv)

Ability to cast Tetra Spirits consistently

Second castle unlocked

Optional:

Luck boosting stuff

Library Cards (And lots of them)

Mana Prisms

Turn off your familiar if they attack a lot, their kills will deprive you of jewel drops. This room is also good for farming familiar experience if you want to grind that simultaneously.

Where: Inverted Chapel, Spectral Sword Room

What to do:

  1. With your equipment ready enter from the right side on the bottom.

  2. Move to about the spot where the roof slopes downward and cast Tetra Spirits.

  3. Wait for the spell to end. It should kill all the spears (may leave one alive) and leave just the shields and sword itself alive.

  4. Start walking towards the weakened sword, jumping, and slashing with the jewel sword to hit the shields. You can hit three with a diagonal slash.

  5. Pick up any jewels dropped.

  6. Repeat until full of Zircons, sell them, repeat as needed.

Tips:

The goal is to leave just the shields and maybe one spear alive because this forces the sword to continuously back away from you harmlessly.

The single spear is more manageable than all of them trying to attack and has another chance of dropping jewels.

Don't get too close or the Sword will leap over you and sink below the floor which is very annoying. If it does this move towards the top and wait if you want or just reset the room.

You can kill the sword itself but it continuously flies away and your sword is weak (unless you're on the Saturn version and have some valuable gems equipped). The point is doing this all quickly and efficiently.

A small wishlist for any future update

I don't know how actively the devs browse here and I realize my bargaining posture is dubious, but I have a few minor changes/nitpicks from playing for about a month:

  1. Growth should have a few headgear options. I feel like tying a bandanna around my foliage/cap shouldn't completely sever it. Similarly circlets or other round but open topped headgear shouldn't interfere. Maybe have a mechanic where if you grow while it's equipped it gets stuck?

  2. Hotkeying rocks should make them consumable by Automatons similarly to scrap. While I for one recognize rocks as indespenable anti-Gnome weaponry and occasional puzzle solving impliments if I'm even carrying them in the first place it's more likely I'm going to use them as a disposable resource.

  3. I feel like if I'm levitating I shouldn't set off pressure plates. Frankly this is mostly just me coming from Pixel Dungeon where this is the primary use of levitation.

Fun build: Dryad Monk

The ring synergizes extremely well with your ability to create infinite food and the high block plus a natural Thorns spell means you can do things like tank enemies while they kill themselves attacking you.

The only real downside is a crippling weakness to magic, fire, and some common melee attacks. But because you're leveling Thaumaturgy constantly from maintining/using Thorns you should be able to learn good healing spells to help offset that.

[Star Wars] Did nobody notice the slowly amassing military of the Republic?

Kamino was tucked away off the charts and expunged, I get that part, but they were just doing the growing and training of clones. The Republic showed up at the first battle on Geonosis already in posession of LAATs, AT-TEs, and presumably Venators to transport it after Yoda traveled to Kamino. We know all of these are made by Republic companies like Kuat Drive Yards, Rothana Heavy Engineering, etc. A Venator is no small little project: That's at the very least a whole city's worth of labor to fully construct. And it's pretty explicitly a military ship; It's not like some rich senator would have one commissioned for shits and giggles.

So somehow the Republic, who is currently dealing with a cecesion crisis of Sepratists and would likely be hyper aware of which companies are arming who, somehow failed to notice this fleet of heavy ordinance being amassed and presumably flown off to what's recognized as deep uncharted space to Kamino? And not only that but it had to have been going on for years.

[Rick and Morty] How exactly was Beth raised if Rick left when she was young and Dianne died?

I know it's not his Beth and every Rick is a little different, but generally speaking they all had roughly the same timeline before discovering interdimensional travel/encountering Rick Prime. Beth has abandonment issues from him being absent, her mom is dead across every dimension, and somehow she met Jerry in high school which she attended normally despite being a little psychopath?

How to completely remove Glance and AI from a device?

I am seriously at my limit with this app re-enabling itself. It isn't enough that they decided to change holding down power to be activating the clanker instead of powering off like it should be, now this company thinks they have squatter's right to my lock screen.

[Dark Souls] Why does killing the false sun in Anor Londo plunge it into darkness?

If we assume that the real sun is the one Solaire is staring at from the bridge into the Undead Parish there's no reason it shouldn't continue to illuminate Anor Londo from that direction. It's even roughly where the fake sun shines in from when the city is undisturbed. Furthermore looking up at it from below afterwards reveals the same sunny city as before illuminated by presumably the true sun.

When to use Raw ascension, a guide

"What does Raw do? It looks better than the others!"

"Bigger number better!"

"+15 takes too long!"

Is this you? Every other day I see poor, misguided souls asking for details on upgrades that nobody in this community seems to be able to provide. Raw weapons aren't evil cursed objects that will give you male pattern baldness and make you infertile, but they also aren't the best thing in the world. Like any upgrade path Raw is just a sidegrade to Normal/Regular/Quality, which all mean the same +15 path that's optimal for scaling.

What does Raw actually do? Simply put it makes a weapon have REALLY high base damage, like more than a few upgrades worth of regular upgrades, but it **completely** removes scaling from the equation.

Scaling, for those confused by the terminology like we all were once, is those letters hidden inside the Excel spreadsheet of a stat display: E is worst, A/S is best. Most weapons scale with one or two stats, some do three, some only scale with one. A small selection may require a certain minimal level of stats but offer zero scaling. Something like a Club scales with strength, it makes sense: You get stronger and you can bash people harder. What does a Club also have? Low base requirements.

This is where Raw comes in handy: It turns any weapon you can hold into a good weapon, which leaves you the opportunity to invest the souls you would normally spend on physical stats to increase your damage into whatever else you may need. What is this useful for?

  1. Sorcerers, Clerics, or any other build with less physical ability. Raw weapons can still be buffed by the way.

  2. Weapons with already low damage you're using for some reason, like a Caestus or Broken Straight Sword.

  3. Soul Level 1/whatever runs, where upgrades are the only thing you can use your souls on anyways (but you're better off with Quality/Elemental in the long run).

That's it. It's not some secret lesser known path, it's not optimal, it's simply better than no upgrades or no physical damage whatsoever. The thing that keeps it from being a waste like Crystal upgrades is that you can still repair the weapon and revert the upgrade later on. All you've lost is souls and basic Titanite, which in the long run is always recoverable.

[Dark Souls] Why do they build catacombs if humans are undead? How does revival work?

The Asylum I can understand: Hollows are homicidally insane and have to be dealt with somehow. I'm less clear on the purpose of the catacombs and how there are skeletons, which I suppose fits into the broader scope of exactly how the undead curse works.

So humans can't fully die if they have the Darksign, and they revive at bonfires (or the player character does - everyone else seems to come back in the same spot)... but then some specific ones don't revive. And I'm not just talking bosses: Oscar, for instance, went fully hollow and became an enemy but you only kill him once before he stops appearing.

Is the Cleric Armor worth having or should I just dome Patches for the axe and use other armor?

Doing a Paladin build. He'll betray me anyways, it's self defense.

Edit: Went through with it by luring a boney boy over and letting it do the act, absolving me of any wrongdoing. I've never used the Crescent Axe before and I certainly never got the impression from the inventory icon it was so... reachy. This run might be interesting after all!

[Star Wars] How did Delta squad get it's name?

In universe there's a whole different alphabet called Aurbesh named after the phonetic pronounciation of the first two letters Aur and Besh. Delta would be NATO phonetic for D in English. Now you could say it's just a translation convention like characters using hell as a swear word or them speaking English in general, except in Battlefront 2 the characters all refer to the capture points by their Aurbesh phonetic pronounciation.

[Star Wars] How do B1s get promotions? What exactly does it mean for the individual droid?

They're programmed to do specific things and don't really have any sort of merit or intelligence beyond wade forward in formation while hosing the 180° area in front of them with automatic fire. The only time they're really shown commanding one another it's when there's a group of like ten and one will point at a target to say "Blast Em!" - and that's when General Grievous isn't personally there to do so.

Fone Bone makes it to the valley just in time for snowfall, stays in a cave long enough to build a shelter and meet the locals, and finally moves in with Thorn the day before Phoney finds anyone from the valley. He's starving by then.

How did Phoney survive the winter by himself? There's no way he's as resourceful as Fone Bone or as lucky as Smiley.
