My dogs second day back home after ivdd surgery, seems like he hasn’t slept and he seems in pain, I’m scared to lift him incorrectly.. but when I do lift him I try and support the spine as carefully as possible,and have to turn him every 4 hrs until bed.. but he’s crying and he’s getting Ancy like kicking his front paws around is this all normal? He is paralyzed in the back legs and they said it’s 50 50 if he walks again.. they upped his gabapentin to two pills every 8 hrs with 1 1/2 tramadol.. pretnezone in the mornings which they are weaning him off..still seems like he can’t rest well. I’m new to this so any advice would be greatly appreciated. How long does the pain subside where they can lay down and not hurt? We were told confine movement for 4-6 weeks but I usually watch him through the night while my wife sleeps and she lets me nap in the day time.. then I get up and help her out I took time off work for a couple weeks. He’s my world and I hate seeing him like this! One day he was fine and the next he can’t walk.. any encouragement would be deeply appreciated
