Maledict, my Necromancer

Maledict, my Necromancer

I made him bald as I wasn't happy with any of the hair options. I think the Two-Handed Scythe as a weapon goes hard. Also, it was my first time trying Hardcore mode so I went with a comfy meat shield minions build – Maledict sends forth Skeleton Warriors and an iron Golem as he conjures shadow attacks through Reap and Sever.

Spiritborn PTR discussion

Who's playing SB on the PTR? I can't as I have the game on Steam.

I'm curious if the class will be the one to benefit the most from the new "no crit / buff DOT" splinter. Also would love to hear how the new paragon board is.

Please share your findings here!

Build variety?

Never played Spiritborn before, but I'm keen to try it out for Season 15. I took a quick look at the Maxroll build guides and noticed that the four top builds (Evade Counterswarm, Rake, Crushing Hand, and Stinger) all the same ultimate (The Devourer) and none of them use the Centipede in the Spirit Hall. Additionally, the skills used by each of those builds are like 5/6 the same.

Is this just the way that it is for Spiritborn? Not much in the way of variety in skills and Spirits? I've previously played Paladin and Warlock which felt like they had a lot more differences in the main popular builds.

Would love to hear from the Spiritborn experts here as I'm only doing early research before trying the class next season.

Fiend of Abaddon question

Why do none of the Maxroll Warlock builds use Fiend of Abaddon ulti?

They all use Metamorphosis and Apocalypse

Is Fiend of Abaddon that bad?

FIRST WAITLIST PURCHASE??

I just got an email from Steam asking me to confirm my purchase. I was originally on the waitlist. Is this the first case of this happening?

Email received at 7:00am on Saturday 4th July (Australia)

Sue me but I'm a Rupture enjoyer

Seems like a lot of people are shitting on the new seasonal mechanics but I'm honestly enjoying them.

While the ruptures themselves are pretty fun to do and of course the reputation board gives a nice dopamine hit when you complete it and get the rewards, I believe the biggest positive has been the ruptures in Helltides. For me they've turned Helltides into an S+ tier activity, especially when there are multiple triggered at once. Absolutely insane monster density, screen filled with monsters and loot, hundreds of cinders gained in minutes -- it's absolute mayhem and it's incredible. Cheers Blizzard

I feel like I'm the target audience for the Steam Machine

In the craziness of everyone actively shitting on the Steam Machine in the last week, I really felt like it was targeted for someone like me.

- Massive library of 550 games

- Want to play that library on my couch in front of my big TV

- Not interested in starting a new library on PS5 or Xbox

- Not bothered to build my own PC, but also don't need high end tech to play Slay the Spire 2 or Hades

- Married with a wife who appreciates the small form factor of the SM's unassuming small black box, rather than the "alien spaceship" of the PS5

- Fortunate to have enough disposable income for the main criticism to not be too much of an issue

So with the shitstorm of criticism about the dollar amount, I thought there might be enough SMs produced to meet the seemingly low demand and I could safely put myself down for the 2TB one, particularly as I'm in Australia (so not competing with the larger NA and EU audience). I missed out and ended up on the waitlist which was devastating. What made it worse was the polling that's been done here suggests that the quantity of 2TB SMs are much lower than the 512GB ones. I wish that was made clear, otherwise I would have put myself down on both lists to increase my odds. I had assumed the number of 2TB and 512GB SMs that were manufactured were the same. Really disappointing.

T12 Mephisto solo cleared - first time

Forgot to share this a couple of weeks ago when I did it, but I was absolutely over the moon when I managed to kill Mephisto on T12 solo with Paladin.

This was my first season back since season 0 so very happy to have achieved this!

In case anyone is curious, it was a Shield of Retribution thorns build from Maxroll.

How I organise my collection of games on Steam

Sharing this because it has helped me get through my back catalogue of unplayed Steam games. I divided all my games into the following categories.

  • Applications: these aren't games, but are apps like Wallpaper Engine
  • Completed: these are games whose singleplayer story or campaign have been completed
  • Condemned: games I bought that I didn't end up liking
  • Cursed: games I have no recollection ever buying and have no idea why they are in my collection
  • Documentaries: what it says on the tin
  • Endless: these are "unfinishable" games like roguelites, multiplayer-only games, etc., that are uninstalled and no longer played.
  • Family: a recent addition after my siblings and I turned on family sharing. These are their games, 95%+ of which I have no interest playing. The few I am interested in got moved to other categories.
  • Maybe: these are games that may one day be played if I can get through all the Prospective games first.
  • Prospective: these are games I hope to play once I get through the Targeted games.
  • Steam Deck: these are games I've identified as good candidates for my Steam Deck.
  • Steam Machine: these are games I've identified as good candidates for the Steam Machine (when I finally get it).
  • Targeted: these are games I plan on playing in the near future.
  • Underway: these are games that are currently installed and being played.
  • Unlimited: these are multiplayer or roguelike games that are "unfinishable" but are installed and regularly played (eg Battlefield 6, Diablo 4, Age of Empires 2)
  • Waiting: these are Early Access games that I am not playing because I refuse play Early Access games, so I'm waiting for their full release.

Separating my singleplayer games into different categories of priority has helped me tackle my pile of shame. A few years ago that Completed group had like maybe 10-15 games in it. Now it has 163.

Hope this was useful or interesting!

Nurius, my Paladin

I love this shield (Herald of Zakarum) and decided to use its colour scheme for the rest of the armour. Thought it looked better without a helmet.

I like how a lot of the angels and paladins in the lore use the "-ius" suffix for their names. So I used Nur (Arabic for "light") and added that same suffix for his name.

Have you finished all seasonal objectives?

Curious to know how many people have finished all seasonal objectives in ranks 1 to 9? This is my first season back since season 0.

I have two left: get 66,666 aether in Infernal Hordes and craft a Flawless Horadric Gem. I'm pretty close to the gem so I'll go for that but I'm probably going to skip the aether one as Infernal Hordes are an agonising slog. Absolutely miserable activity.

What's everyone else's seasonal objective status? Do you usually try to get them all?

Echoing Hatred and Infernal Hordes should be swapped

Echoing Hatred is a very fun and fairly quick game mode that is gated behind an insanely rare drop. I haven't seen one myself in 175 hours of gameplay this season (I played from my friend's drop).

Infernal Hordes keys are common and the activity has been set up as an integral War Plans activity, despite it being a boring slog that is very miserly on aether unless you randomly get chaos waves.

IMO Echoing Hatred should be the common "eternal wave mode" activity that is part of the War Plans, while Infernal Hordes should be the rare one - especially given how unpopular it is.

Shield of Retribution - Pit pushing strategy

I'm playing the Season 13 Shield of Retribution build that's on Maxroll. It's served me well so far. Comfortably doing all activities in T12 at Paragon 240. I have my gear and charms fairly close to the build guide. All grand gems with one Horadric skull.

I can do Pit 110 easily. Pit 115 also, and can usually avoid dying if I concentrate and play well. But Pit 120 is a step too far, massively uphill battle as I feel like I am doing hardly any damage, particularly to elites.

In terms of T10 Mephisto, I couldn't kill him on my own so paired up with 3 friends of similar levels to take him down after 10 tries. Forget about T12 Mephisto, I feel like that's never going to be within reach.

Basically my question is... how can I push further into Pits? Is it a matter of grinding gear upgrades on a granular level for every 1% increase? Is there a certain way I should be playing in relation to using abilities in a certain order? Or is it simply a case of I've done the best I can with Shield of Retribution and should respec into Clash, Zeal or Wing Strike?

Any thoughts welcome!

Confused about parental leave (NSW)

The Education NSW website talks about both parents getting 14 weeks paid parental leave. But a bit further down, the page seems to suggest that's only for maternity, surrogacy, and adoption. So I check the Teacher's Handbook which says it's still only 2 weeks paid parental leave.

So which is it? Can expecting fathers get 14 weeks paid parental leave? Is the Teacher's Handbook just not updated?

And when you apply, what kind of documentation do you need? A birth certificate wouldn't work as the baby hasn't been born yet.

Any help appreciated!

Which item is better for the Shield of Retribution (Thorns) build?

See title. Ignore gems, I can swap them over. The one on the right is "a little bit" better across the board, except in Thorns where the one of the left is miles better. Which one should I use?

u/Hybridtheory92 — 3 months ago

Anyone playing Shield of Retribution Thorns?

Don't see this discussed much so I'm curious if many people are playing the Shield of Retribition build that uses Fortress and pops thorns inside it, then spams Shield and Clash with auras. I spotted it on a tier list on the Maxroll website and have been enjoying it. Fairly comfortable on Torment XI. I've gotten to 100 on Pit, but haven't got all the gear yet to fully switch to Torment XII. Anyone else playing this build?

Clank Catacombs question

I see photos online of a black 3-headed dragon meeple but I have no idea where it's from – and I own both the Lairs and Underworld expansion. Is it a promo? 20 mins of Google searching yielded nothing. Nobody talks about it or names it, it's just "there" in some photos.
