Just ordered a cardputer adv…

Im not that savvy when it comes to tech but this thing seems really cool and I want to learn more about how things work. Did I make a mistake, is this something where you already need to have a background in tech to use or is it user friendly? What should be the first couple of things I should do when I get it. I don’t even really know what I should be asking. I know I must sound like an idiot for buying something that I really don’t know a lot about but I really want to start learning more about how everything works. Anyways I would like some advice on its uses and things I need to take into consideration.

Greed ruined eBay and eBay ruined everything else.

I understand with all the crazy fees and shipping costs that sellers have to make it up somehow, but the prices of a lot of things are absolutely ridiculous. It’s not even like it’s due to inflation people are throwing unrealistic numbers out there and hoping some dumb ass bites. It’s almost impossible to have a hobby anymore because people will prey on the fact that you’re passionate about something. You can’t afford to shop at thrift stores anymore because they base their prices off what they could get online. Is there a version of eBay where people barter instead of trying to squeeze every cent out of you. That would be awesome. Thanks for reading my rant.

Medeco mushrooms..

I recently started picking Medecos and I keep running into these two different mushrooms. Is one kind older? And is one kind more difficult than the other? I also had a lock with both so I can’t really narrow it down.

Mail Call from Greentools NYC!!!

I got a R.O.K. (rim of keyway) Tension wrench from Greentools NYC and the attention to detail is amazing!
He also threw in a cylinder with some extra pins to mess around with. The people in our community are truly awesome!

Medeco M3 Question

After you rotate the pins and go to push in the slider, will the slider be locked in solid or will there still be a little "spring" to it? Any and all advice welcome, thanks!

Medeco Original!!

This is my first Medeco! I’ve been intimidated by them since I started and finally decided to give it a go.
The bitting was average and there was no false gates making it a good lock for learning pins that rotate.
Does anyone know what rank it would be considering it has no false gates?

Contact microphones??

While picking I wasn’t sure if I was actually hearing the sounds or just feeling them, so I got a contact mic to find out. It’s is insane how much it adds to the mental picture one builds. Im not sure exactly how the mic can be an aid but it sure is cool. Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone makes regular use of one and how it can be helpful, or is it just novel and mainly for making videos.

Pink Floyd Rocks!!

I found a painted rock over a decade ago and thought it was cool that someone took the time out of their life to give someone a random moment of joy. I think it’s a cool concept and have been doing it ever since.

ASSA ABLOY 4822440V0134S Cylinder 5 Level Std Thread, Front Satin Chrome no-logo

I found this on eBay and I think it may be samelined with TrioVing 508 and Vingcard 55 it would be ranked blue. It has decent tolerances and the keyway is doable. Not too many things have trampolines in them so this was a nice surprise. I ended up grubbing it just for the hell of it. I would’ve provided a link but I don’t know how, sorry. Anyways, thought I’d share.

Any reason for the DC trip!?

Maybe it wanted to see the algae pond. Its because of stuff like this they are raising the prices of everything. This package was never supposed to leave eastern Pennsylvania.

Are there any Locksporters in the area?

Hi, I’m from Collegeville and I’ve been in the area a couple years. I recently picked up lock picking as a hobby ( about six months) and im progressing at a pretty good speed. Anyways, im looking for other people who do the same thing. It would be nice to talk to someone who knows what im talking about and to exchange ideas and techniques. Please feel free to message me.

1100 revisited..

I’ve been working on other things and forgot that I had a bag full of aptc12’s. I was wondering if you can lose your feel for certain locks after concentrating on other ranks. I didn’t make it thru the entire lot but it was fun to rediscover something that used to bring me such a rush. I think I’ll make it a point to periodically go thru my older stuff. Thanks for letting me share.

I know I just posted but…

This 600 lasted me every bit of a minute, im not sure what I was doing wrong before but I think I have barrels finally figured out.

Update: I just opened my 600RB RUKO!! I didn’t want to make another post but still wanted to share. I got that lock well before I knew I could open it but I wanted to try something harder and today it popped open!!

Barrel Breakthrough!!

I’ve had success with gins but barrels have eluded me. I hope to develop a better understanding of barrels moving forward. What made it make sense for all of you?? I’ve watched a lot of videos on the subject and everyone seems to have their own method. For me it was finding the binding order and then treating them like serrated pins.

ASSA Twin 6k woes…

This lock is truly more than the sum of its parts. First I removed the main pinstacks to learn the side bar, then I removed the sidebar and picked the main pinstacks. So now I’m good to put it all together, right? Wrong! I’ve had to start all over, and now I’m only up to 3 main pin stacks and 3 side pins. I feel like I wasted a week picking the equivalent of a 600 and some kind of dimple lock. I have a new found respect for bb locks and the people who defeat them. Thanks for letting me rant, any advice is welcomed.
