Trying to figure out an origin for my chapter

Hey guys. I'm working on the lore for the custom chapter color scheme I'm painting up. I have some details, but haven't quite locked in the origins and am playing with a couple options.

Starting off they are void based, and have a battlebarge as their chapter headquarters. Their main quest is to find and recover their missing primarch. In some versions I have this quest bestowed upon them by Guilliman. I'm not sure how well that meshes with the lore but the rough idea is "listen running things is hard. I need all my bros back. Here is supplies and support. Now go find your Dad for me." Or I might just go with the standard "Our chapter wants its primarch back. New chapter task force find Vulkan/khan/corax/russ authorized." My craziest version which might not fit at all is that this is a "deathwatch" situation where Guilliman arranged for remnants from each of the missing primarch factions to band together to search for all of them. Admittedly this is mostly justification to collect each of the chapter specific type units and have them be compatible in my head (much to the discomfort of my wallet lol).

Dor Salamanders specifically. I like the fire weapons and blacksmithing vibes. I can totally make use of an upgrade sprue as I go. I know part of the lore is Vulkan promised to return when all of his artifacts were recovered so that seems to be very compatible with my other idea. I also use pops of orange in the color scheme (mostly corax white and lothern blue) so I feel that pays some homage to the salamanders while still being their own unique thing.

I'd like to know more about the artifacts left behind. What has been found so far. Are all salamander gene seed holders that dark black, or is that just because of the homeworld? Additionally I'm still new to learning the game. If I went the Salamander origin direction I would pick up the two hero characters, but kitbash them slightly. Just enough to have them work fine on the tabletop as "this is clearly Adrax rule wise, but his name is actually Jeff Mcbossman" So to that end what exactly is what Adrax and He'stan able to do gameplay wise? What units do they like to lead so my kitbash design follows the spirit? ELI5 please best as you can.

For Raven Guard and Corax Specifically I honestly don't know enough about the phobos style marines to know if they'd feel cool to specialize in. I like the jetpacks and the idea of infiltrating into the ships I board and areas inland in and the. Following up with air support. For the primarch recovery I don't know enough about the warp entity Corax has become to know what bringing him back would be like. Color wise I use corax white heavily as the color scheme so I feel they would fit visually. Hero wise looks like both their unique characters are on jetpacks and I do like the idea of running jetpack heavy forces. Being void based that just makes sense. I also really dig those reiver skull style helmets so that could be a boon.

For the White Scars I feel it also fits visually with my majority white color scheme. Roaming the stars in our ships also seems to fit with the way their chapter operates. Khan also feels like one of the more recoverable primarchs of the list. I'm unaware of the return lore though. Is there any clues or indications in lore of how his return will go? I also think that hover jetbike is cool as fuck along with other hover tech. Not as big of a fan of the wheeled bikes though. So similar to the other two ELI5 the Spirit of how their two heroes buff their team. I also think the whole Mongolian vibe also is visually cool and unique, but worry about the availability of bits.

Typing this all out it does seem I lean a little toward Salamanders just from the amount I've typed. This is probably more just by chance of coming across more of their lore and thinking I understand the rough idea of how they play (buff the flame and melta weapons and excel in this not close range not long range zone).

My 7 followers of Nurgle have anointed themselves with 7 blessings of Nurgle (painting steps) and are now all battle ready.

Really enjoyed painting these guys. Never expected them to be this fun to paint. Now the Death Guard makes up half my wishlist. And here I thought I'd be going Salamanders.

I like the Lothern blue, and finally am getting enough coats of corax white on the panels to make it look good. Just need to tidy it up. I feel like I need to either make part of the chest or those raised thigh plates white as well. So far the philosophy has been that the black is the under armor, and the white is the fitted outer plates. So shinguards white, back of leg black. Blue for the top and bottom parts (knees and toes/ shoulders and hands) any suggestions as to what element y'all think would benefit from paint the most?
