Like the narrative is telling us the hashira as a group, not any one person (except Gyomei) are the strongest, and there is a clear "hashira level" that Giyu has in mind in ICA when he compliments Tanjiro (marked Tanjiro is base hashira level btw). If you ignore that you will get ridiculous conclusions like the other hashira were actually able to low diff GyuDaki and the one guy who would be pushed to extreme diff just happened to be in EDA. Which takes away all the stakes because after that Obanai would just pull up and fodderise GyuDaki if this scaling was really accurate. Why was Ubuyashiki and the Corps unable to kill the UM for a century if they were actually fodder who can be easily killed by any hashira? Why is Tengen even a hashira if he is like a blitz tier below the rest of them?

Anyway enough about Tengen let's move on to Sanemi. This guy is so glazed because he fought Kokushibo for a bit, people act like he is able to blitz marked hashiras and every other kizuki in base form. The story tells us Sanemi is at least matched by Muichiro and Giyu (because...he sparred equally with them in HTA). If base hashira can be stronger than marked hashira what's even the point of the mark? Are the hashira aware that some of them can easily blitz UMs while others are barely above lower moon level?

Unless you have base Sanemi = marked Sanemi it's a foregone conclusion that Kokushibo was holding back during the first part of the fight. He is holding back to an unquantifiable extent so don't act like Sanemi is a perception blitz tier above Muichiro or something like that. It doesn't make sense that Sanemi trains and pushes his limits by sparring with a guy who he could easily blitz at any time.

Note I have not said anything about Gyomei because he is the goat

Yes Doma was holding back against Shinobu he didn't even use half of his arsenal and he is a BDA based fighter. Doma just has bad stats for a UM but it is made up by his broken BDA. Remember in the past Doma was UM6 so according to some people that means he would be perception blitzed and low diffed by almost all hashira, he must have gone on a training arc or something. Because people would rather die than admit UM ranks don't mean you are automatically superior to everyone below you in every stat.

Hi everyone. Today, I am going to try and establish a speed scale for KnY without using feats of dodging something from a BDA as BDA versions may not possess the full speed of their IRL counterparts and are very controversial.

To begin with, the very first demon, temple demon, vanished from Tanjiro's sight, a subsonic feat. Although Tanjiro and Nezuko fought back, this is because they kept hitting him from angles he could not see, and also temple demon was bad at fighting. When his headless body went 1v1 with Nezuko, it easily outsped and overpowered her. So it's not crazy to say his reaction speed is also subsonic.

Final Selection Tanjiro is a blitz tier above this as he was able to kill hand demon without hand demon being able to catch him. Hand demon is also likely stronger by an unknown amount to temple demon.

Kanao with constant Total Concentration Breathing is significantly faster than Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke as well, we'll say another blitz tier as she was easily able to outspeed them and put a cup on their head before they could stop her. All characters with constant Total Concentration Breathing should also be at least this fast.

We know base Hashira are a perception blitz faster than Total Concentration Breathing Tanjiro due to feats such as exhausted Rengoku being impossible to perceive, Tengen running away before they knew what happened and Giyu appearing to teleport after talking to Tanjiro.

How much of an increase does the mark provide? We can look at Muichiro vs Gyokko. Muichiro went from being relative to Gyokko (he was overpowered by the diversity of techniques and offguarded by the water, but was able to deflect Gyokko's projectiles and wound him despite his teleportation) to a perception blitz above him as Gyokko could not even see Muichiro parrying. Thus, mark is a perception blitz multiplier.

Marked Hashira stats are the base for all top tiers, with Yoriichi and Muzan obviously being far above while top 3 UMs are generally superior in stats with busted BDAs and regeneration to make an advantage.

Assuming temple demon was 34.3 m/s (baseline for subsonic), a 2x multiplier for speed blitz and a 4x multiplier for perception blitz, we have:

Temple demon = Hand demon < FS Tanjiro < Kanao = Constant Total Concentration Breathing Tanjiro << Base Hashira << Marked Hashira

34.3 x 2 x 2 x 4 = 548.8 m/s or Mach 1.6 for base Hashira (Supersonic)

548.8 x 4 = 2195.2 m/s or Mach 6.4 for marked Hashira (Hypersonic)

Note that these numbers are an absolute lowball and aren't really a proper calculation. We can get temple demon higher or look at the difference between temple demon and hand demon, or increase the blitz multipliers to be more generous. It's just a rough ballpark estimate of where the verse ends up using this scaling. There are also other routes you could go to establish the speed of the verse.

Hantengu is obviously based off various kinds of Tengu, and Kokushibo may not have any specific inspiration. But how about Gyutaro, Gyokko, Doma and Akaza? Are there any Japanese myths that they are similar to?

We know KnY characters are definitely not normal humans like some people say, they are bare minimum building level. But how high can you actually get them? This is probably the most important thing for crossverse since KnY outspeeds most verses already, it's just a matter of doing significant damage.

This thought came to my mind when watching Shinobu vs Doma. Even when Doma is lying on the ground, Shinobu does not attack him despite having clear intent to kill. It suggests that Doma is fast enough to block and counter a strike, which appears to be due to his superior speed.

However, he later says that he couldn't react to her movements and considered her incredibly fast. So maybe Shinobu is just faster and didn't want to try her luck? But this isn't the full story as she was also blitzed by Doma, twice in fact. Once when the girl died after Shinobu saved her and once when Doma slashed her with his fan. What's going on? How can they blitz each other back and forth like that?

I suggest that in KnY, the speed of attacks, dodging and movement generally exceeds reaction speed. This means that one must always keep their eyes on the opponent to see when they move and immediately prepare a counter, predicting the attack.

It's supported as even those who blitz targets can get counter-blitzed if they don't expect their enemy to be fast. See Tengen vs Gyutaro, where Tengen runs past him at the start of the fight and then gets cut. Similarly, Muichiro tried to blitz the emotion demon, but got blasted away because he just rushed in without waiting for an opening.

Hence, there appears to be a "defender's advantage" where the party being attacked can immediately counter while the attacking party can't stop this counter. Since the "defender's advantage" relies on the defender performing an immediate counter or dodge, taking them off guard would result in an apparent "perception blitz" where the defender was hit by an attack they physically couldn't see coming.

We can see the importance of focus and distraction when Kokushibo, someone who can easily avoid marked Muichiro going for the kill, fails to stop Sanemi getting close as he was distracted by Gyomei's bead. Sanemi doesn't need to be a blitz tier above Muichiro as Kokushibo was not truly blitzing Muichiro, he was predicting Muichiro's attack and dodging a great distance. Once his eyes were off Sanemi, Kokushibo lost the "defender's advantage" and was unable to perform a dodge in advance.

That's how Kokushibo was later able to seemingly teleport to the eyes of the slayers while not being able to use that same speed to kill them. The instant they saw him vanish, they would have performed defensive actions, so Kokushibo chose to reposition instead of running into the path of their prepared counters.

The importance of prediction is shown by Muzan in Ubuyashiki's mansion, one of the most commonly brought up "antifeats" in the series. Muzan stated that he was not expecting the explosion to occur, hence he did not dodge it. While this is often used to downplay the speed of the verse, it actually only applies to perception speed. Muzan only saw some fiery stuff and then exploded, he couldn't dodge in time but he could easily have avoided the attack if he knew it was coming. The speeds KnY characters fight at can indeed be far faster than their perception.

TL:DR

No one can react to each others' max speed in KnY between similar level combatants, it's all prediction. A "perception blitz" simply happens when someone attacks in an unpredictable manner such that their opponent fails to immediately defend. Otherwise you have to accept that like half the UMs are frauds who are actively throwing their fights, or that both sides pretend to be perception blitzed for hype moments and aura.

In the first place, these posts are usually using out of context verses from some holy book, usually the Bible or Quran. Now I am not here to debate, but I want to say that it is unlikely to spark a constructive conversation if you post such inflammatory material.

If you hate something, why do you want to go online and spread that hate to others? So you can hate it together with them? This is a subreddit for teenagers, leave the arguments to adults. Spreading the fury of past generations to young people will only continue the cycle of anger.

To my fellow Christians - I do not know much about the teachings of other religions, so I can't in good faith address it here - "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Do not succumb to those who want you to lash out and argue for engagement and entertainment. Simply explain your views peacefully, and you don't need to debate them for a hollow victory if they are being obtuse on purpose. I believe all people should follow this philosophy, and the internet would be a better place for it.

Even if it's not about religion, one should not post hateful things. If you dislike something, an intelligent critique is much more likely to change minds than a strongly worded complaint that only seeks to inflame intense emotions.

Reasons for MU:

Both of them are guardians created by the weak (Sula made Summoned Saviour out of fear, FC is False Knight's hallucination of him protecting the other maggots). They are made of deceased/ancient stuff (Summoned Saviour is a mass of husks, FC has the armor of Hegemol). Both of them reuse the moveset of a weaker enemy (Summoned Saviour has the generic void attacks, FC has the same moves as False Knight but turned up to 11). Their noble name belies their true nature (Summoned Saviour is just a mindless void mass, FC is a petty maggot mad with power).

Genya was able to shoot off the heads of the Hantengu emotion clones, who are UM level. Wouldn't this downscale them to shotgun level durability? You can make the argument that they wanted to be beheaded but idk how they would suppress their durability. Just because the bullets are nichirin doesn't mean anything, remember Tanjiro struggled to cut the necks of strong demons so just having nichirin doesn't make demons physically more vulnerable. Doesn't feel right but I can't see an explanation for this.

Reasons for MU:

Once-mighty warriors now past their prime, fought in a dream or memory state. Used to be a member of an elite group (Karmelita was an Old Heart, Ogrim was one of the five Great Knights) but that changed when the evil higher being attacked (the Skarr fell to the haunting, and Hallownest was ruined by the infection). Defeating them makes them relive their laments (Ogrim mourns the loss of his friends, Karmelita is sad that her children are all haunted). They both manipulate the arena (Karmelita can summon spikes for some reason, Ogrim makes dirt shockwaves and projectiles). Their voices add a lot to the audio of their fight.

So the logic for this is that Doma asked Akaza if he wanted to fight when talking about their ranks, this implies that the ranks are decided by UMs fighting. So of course Gyutaro would be ranked lower since the other demons can just ignore his poison gimmick and regenerate from his blades with no problem.

But he actually has the better matchup into slayers compared to Hantengu and Gyokko since he only needs one scratch to basically end the fight and has tracking blood blades that would deal lethal damage and don't stop following you.

Tengen was basically THE counter to Gyutaro because of his bombs that could disperse the blood blades and poison resistance, I don't think any other unmarked hashira would even stand a chance once Gyutaro landed that first hit and poisoned them.

We all know Koku is top 2 demons, maybe even top 1 (Muzan is harder to kill, but Koku has more skill and ends up being more lethal). Can Kokushibo beat the other 5 UMs though (excluding Nakime and Kaigaku, Daki is part of Gyutaro)?

Assume the wincon is just to remove the opponent's head, it doesn't actually have to kill them the UMs are fighting for fun and will surrender if they lose their head. Specific "death" requirements still apply like Kokushibo has to remove both Daki and Gyutaro's heads at the same time, otherwise it doesn't count as a win even though they won't actually die either way.

I would like to formally apologise to beast crest, I was unaware of your game. Before I thought your pogo was bad, no it's actually goated. I was unfaithful and used other crests such as reaper and even architect, ARCHITECT. I am sorry for not being aggressive enough and considering things such as "safety" and "silk management" which I now understand are just meaningless trifles. True power lies in advanced strategies such as mashing the attack button and mashing the attack button.
