Coworkers talks NONSTOP and it’s honestly affecting my quality of work and sanity
A little background- I work in an open concept with about a dozen people in the office. We are all very much on top of each other and work at rows about 2-3 feet from each other. It’s to “foster collaboration”. About 2 1/2 months ago a woman started in my department and still needs a lot of training. At this point, she should be a little further along, but, hey, people learn at different rates. A lot of post initial training has fallen on me as I have been told I am proficient in what I do. I take it upon myself to help this employee learn and grow, encourage her, show her how to do things, and give her tips.
This woman is incredibly sweet and funny, and also very chatty. So chatty to the point I don’t think she goes 5 minutes without saying something to me, out loud, talking about her personal life, etc. I don’t mind helping when it comes to work related topics, and also a little chit chat, but it has become overwhelming listening to her talk about every little aspect of her personal life. We work a very fast paced job that can be very time sensitive and it can be hard to focus when I feel expected to engage in conversation.
I have tried to set boundaries. If I wear ear buds, she will talk to me still. If I tell her I need to focus on a certain very important task, it’s like she forgets and still tries to talk to me. Sometimes if she’s talking, I’ll give low effort answers or responses while physically showing concentration on what I’m doing, but also trying to not be rude.
I feel myself more and more distracted, I’ve been making mistakes, etc. and I’m just worried that I can’t hack an open concept office as I feel I am not doing my best I can do. What can I do to set clear boundaries and to focus so that my work and sanity do not suffer?

My $100 Route Reward Haul
A bit crazy that these 3 items are $100, but I used my Rouge Reward, and the subtotal was exactly $100, so not a penny out of pocket. The eyeshadow stick and MJ are both new products to me, so excited about trying them. I have a couple Skylar perfumes and enjoy them as they are usually subtle and simple, which I appreciate for wearing to the office. Anyone try these products and have any thoughts?

Such a good feeling when you score deal after deal
Just placed an order, and dang, do I feel like I scored! A little context about the haul- I am taking my daughter on a girl’s trip to Hawaii later this year and for her birthday I am gifting presents that she can either A. use for the trip (like the travel bag) or B. beachy/ocean themed items (like the body sprays).
