Experience giving birth at NYP Brooklyn?

Hi! I’m a first-time pregnant person and in the process of finding an ob/gyn. My doc recommended Dr Alexandra Hamilton who is associated with NY Presbyterian. I live in Brooklyn so the NYP hospital in park slope would be super convenient for me to get to.
Would love to hear if anyone has experience with Dr Hamilton and/or NYP. Any guidance appreciated TIA!

Glucose monitoring for GD?

Hi all- I recently found out I’m pregnant - hooray! My endocrinologist said that because I have PCOS/PMOS I am at higher risk of developing gestational diabetes. She wants me to complete a glucose test sooner rather than later and also sent me an at-home glucose monitoring device. I now have to check my blood glucose 4x a day for two weeks. I’ve never had to do this before as I don’t have diabetes. Curious if anyone else was asked to do this? I have a number of friends who developed GD during their pregnancies but ultimately it didn’t cause any issues and none of them became diabetic post-pregnancy.
How seriously should I be taking my doctor’s concern? What will happen if they determine I do have GD?
Thanks!

Feeling like you’re stuck in-between life stages?

Hi 👋 I’m 35 and feel like I’m stuck in this awkward phase of life. I have a husband, career, and have been trying (unsuccessfully so far, but working on it), to get pregnant with my first child. Many of my friends who are my age or older are fully immersed in parent-mode, and it’s challenging to find time, understandably so, to spend together. My friends who are younger than me are fully steeped in single mode- going on dating apps, navigating new careers, grad school, etc.

I love all my friends dearly but feel like I’m stuck in this in between where I cant fully relate to my married friends with kids, nor to my single friends in their late 20s. It leaves me feeling really lonely at times, like I’m an outsider.

Was curious if anyone else is in this boat and how they navigate it? TIA

UPDATE: I think my post is getting misconstrued. For context, I have had miscarriages and a difficult fertility journey due to health issues. I feel isolated at times because my single friends haven’t gone down this path yet and don’t understand the pain I’m in. My friends with children also do not fully get it because they were able to get pregnant with more ease and without pregnancy loss, and so can’t grasp how challenging it’s been for me. I hope this makes what I’m saying resonate more fully. Thank you

Goji berry side effects?

Hi all I’ve been eating goji berries with my breakfast pretty regularly for about a year now since I read they are good for regulating blood sugar and have other health benefits. I have noticed that sometimes I get nausea after I eat them in the morning, but it usually goes away within a couple hours. I decided to look up side effects of goji berries today and read they can indeed cause GI symptoms.
The more alarming side effect I read is that they can induce menstruation and possibly miscarriage/abortion.
I have had two very early 1st trimester miscarriages this year and now I’m low key freaking out that eating goji berries cause the miscarriages. I’m going to stop eating them immediately.
Does anyone have any more intel on goji berries or advice to help me stop worrying? Thank you!

Frustration & sadness

Trigger warning - miscarriage

Hi all I just got back from the ER after having had another early 1st trimester miscarriage. I’ve now had 2 miscarriages in the past 6 months. I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago and have been managing it with some success with metformin, inositol, other vitamins and dietary changes. I also have fibroids.
In June I had a sub-mucosal fibroid surgically removed after being told that it may have contributed to my first miscarriage.
I’m feeling very frustrated and sad because I thought now that I’ve had this fibroid removed I would be less likely to have a miscarriage. Cut to a few weeks post surgery, and I had another miscarriage.
The docs at the ER were very kind but said they don’t know why these early stage miscarriages happen and that there’s nothing I can do to prevent them.
I will be following up with gyn soon but not sure if she’ll have answers either.
Just feeling sorta stuck and hopeless at this point. I don’t want to go through more miscarriages- they are so exhausting- physically and emotionally.

Has anyone else been in this boat and successfully gotten to the other side?

Recs for Swimsuit shorts?

Hi! I’m a thick thighed lady and am most comfortable wearing shorts as a swimsuit bottom so that my inner thighs don’t rub and chafe against each other.
I have a pair of cheap bathing suit shorts from Target that are ok, but looking for some that are better quality and longer lasting.
Looking for recs for bathing suit shorts bottoms that are:
- cute
- comfortable
- don’t ride up or down
- tight fitting (loose shorts don’t prevent the dreaded chafe)
- hit about mid thigh

TIA!!

Ube cake!

My first attempt at Filipino style ube cake! The cake is a chiffon - super light and fluffy. The filling is macapuno - mutant jelly coconut. The frosting is buttercream - made an ombré effect by dividing frosting into three batches and adding different amounts of ube extract. I ordered the special ingredients- ube halaya (ube jam), ube extract, cake flour and macapuno from an Asian grocery online store. Super recommend if you aren’t able to find specialty Asian ingredients where you live.
It was really unique and tasty and people loved it! Excited to explore more desserts with Asian flavors. Send me any ideas below!

Seeking reproductive endocrinologist accepting NYC PPO health plan

Hi I am seeking a reproductive endocrinologist to get help with infertility. I spoke to a representative of the NYC PPO plan on the phone today and she was unable to find a doctor who is in-network for this plan. This means I’d have to pay out of pocket for treatment which would be exorbitant.
I cannot be the only person stuck in this situation.
Any help is super appreciate thank you

PCOS gal here looking for a reproductive endocrinologist to help with fertility & conception in the NYC-area. I have NYC PPO insurance (EmblemHealth & UHC). I was referred to RMA by my endocrinologist but have read very negative reviews online, which makes it sound like their billing department is predatory. Not ready to go the IVF route yet, just starting out on this journey. Any recs appreciated. TIA!
