Printed the small first because I was impatient. The pattern only really opens up at the bigger size where the ridges have room to sweep. Rendered in Keyshot Studio.

The shape is identical across all of them, only the skin changes. I wanted them to sit on a shelf together and read as one family rather than four unrelated pots. Rendered in Keyshot Studio.
The fluting was the fiddly part. Too shallow and it vanishes, too deep and the overhangs print badly. Landed in the middle after a few pots went in the bin. Added a snap-in drainage riser and a tray so it actually works as an indoor pot and not just a nice shape.

I had mismatched pots everywhere and the plant shelf looked like a junk drawer. Designed one pot, scaled it, and now the small and large read as intentional. Same texture, same taper, same tone. Repetition did more than any single nice pot ever did.

The flared shape was not arbitrary. Wide at the top for plants that spread, narrowing to a smaller base so it does not dominate a table. It is aimed at leafy foliage rather than tall thin stems.
Curious whether people here design or choose pots around the plant, or just grab whatever fits the root ball.
I used to render products on a plain gradient. Boring but safe. Put these on a wooden table against a sage green panelled wall with a real plant in them and suddenly they look like something you would buy rather than something you modeled. The context did more for the design than any amount of material tweaking.
I kept sketching separate lamps and they never felt related. So I threw it out and started from one rule instead, vertical fluting at a fixed pitch, and let the shape change around it. A wide cone, a slim cylinder, and a half cone for the wall.
Renders for now while I finish the print profiles. The fluting is the whole design, everything else is just proportion.

For a shade the filament is not a finish, it is part of the optics. A cold white pushes the piece toward clinical, which fights everything Scandinavian about it. Bone White has enough warmth in it that the object reads soft even before the bulb is on.
Wood is the other direction, more organic and uneven, closer to paper. Two different products from the same geometry.

A lampshade is really two products. Unlit it is a sculptural object sitting in a room, judged on silhouette and surface. Lit it becomes a light source, judged on how evenly it glows and what it throws on the wall.
Optimizing for one usually hurts the other. Deep ridges look great off and create hot and cold bands when on. Shallow ridges glow evenly and look flat and boring in daylight. Most of the work was finding the middle.

I have been designing shades in a Nordic direction and I keep circling this. Simple silhouette is not enough on its own, plenty of minimal lighting reads Italian or Japanese instead.
My working theory is that it comes down to warmth and texture. Off white rather than white, a surface that catches low light, and shapes that are calm rather than dramatic. Curious whether people here would define it differently.

I designed this shade around the fluting rather than the silhouette. Off, it is just a white cone with vertical lines. On, every ridge splits the light and puts a soft striped gradient on the wall behind it.
Best part is it looks different from every angle you walk past.

I started with one shade because I hated the bare bulb in my hallway. Then I did another one for the bedroom. Then a wall version because the corner was too dark. My girlfriend says I have a problem. She is not wrong but the light is really nice now.
Printed in Bambu PLA Matte Bone White and Bambu PLA Wood. The wood one glows warmer, almost like paper.
