I think the idea is to have a name that represents a future goal but yeah it just doesn't work if you don't already have the unwavering belief as an internal state, a lot of full shifters don't have anything related to shifting in their usernames
What's the deal with the rumor that Touma's Dorm Manager was a real person? I read GT10 and nothing of the sort was there
Did I miss something in GT10? I kept hearing that the Dorm Manager was a real person Touma knew but once I read the novel I saw nothing of this there.
Did the fandom collectively make up a lie like how people say previous versions of Imagine Breaker used to be people and buildings when Ollerus only said it was weapons, frescos and caves.
Or the very common misconception that Touma says "I'll shatter that illusion!" when he only ever says "destroy".
Or was this a matter of fake 4chan spoilers people thought was real and didn't bother to verify themselves after reading the novel proper after the translation was finished? Like Touma being called "The monster of the abyss" that never actually happened or Touma's inner world being the abyss which also never happened.
Can anyone clear this up for me? To my knowledge the only Dorm Manager Touma had was in a non-canon elseworld story by Haimura Kiyotaka where he wrote a non-H parody doujin of Index where Kanzaki was Touma's dorm manager and Stiyl was a convenience store clerk and Izzard was a teacher and Index was a small cat girl and other stuff.

Remember to always love Alice Anotherbible, the sweetest and second best (Trismegistus is the best) Transcendent
Hey guys btw me talking about the Transcendents being bad doesn't spread negativity, it just reaches people that already agree with said negativity
A lot of Toaru fans like to focus on vocal meme posts when in reality several people hated the Transcendent arc.
In fact I've argued with people who were far more unfair to the arc than myself. The arguments these people made weren't really accurate but it shows how much people hated it.
People saying that Kamachi only added Good Old Mary cause he played Resident Evil and liked Dimitri since they just don't like her that much beyond her design.
People call all the Transcendent characters bland. I wouldn't call them bland really, characters can have distinct personalities without being bland.
A guy I was arguing with called CRC bland when that was never my own criticism of the character for why I disliked him in GT9. The real problem with CRC was that he was depicted as a disgruntled hero that gave up on humanity but he killed ABSOLUTELY no one which made the stakes nonexistent, even the Transcendents with no names at the start were apparently just knocked out and that he was pretending to be a complex character as by the end of GT9 dude was revealed to just be jealous about being forgotten by the world because his OC became more popular than him.
He got 6 karma points while I got zero because there were people who agreed with him.
I wouldn't describe any of this bland, just bad in terms of a fake out that removed depth from a character and a prime example that tension is almost always zero since you know no characters are going to die even when the character is explicitly someone that kills cause they can.
People didn't even like CRC after GT11 which in my opinion fixed the character all because GT11 wasn't a million MCU cameos of dead Toaru characters and crazy world building and was more so Touma's motivation to get back to the people he left behind and CRC's backstory making him an ends justifies the means villain like a lot of Toaru villains like Fiamma which made him a good character IMHO even if yes you're still allowed to dislike him for GT9.
Other Transcendent characters aren't bland either, they're just archetype sorta characters instead of feeling more personalized like early OT characters and a lot of NT characters. Bland would be if they all had similar personalities that its hard to tell them apart. There's a good reasoning for why you don't like them but I feel like bland is an incorrect term for it.
I even saw people that didn't like Trismegistus or Alice which are my favorite Transcendents and some of my favorite GT characters period.
Those are just about all the negative Transcendent takes I saw that I disagreed with, I agreed with almost everything else like how the arc was extremely dragged, and that the Transcendents felt like OC characters when Kamachi promised he'd mostly stick to old characters in an interview, I didn't like Aradia at all and I only loved Alice in GT10 onwards.
And of course I hated Anna Sprengel. I talked with multiple people that hated her a lot more than me, I remember a guy that hated her so much he called her Anna Sprinkle instead 🤣, they always had the same takes as me for why Sprengel was bad though so I don't need to share them again here. I remember a Japanese fan even said that he doesn't want the Bridge Builders Cabal to keep appearing anymore.
Thank God Alice basically replaced Sprengel as the arc heroine cause God this was bothersome to follow.
I remember when the GT15 cover dropped there were comments on the post complaining about a Transcendent being there and a guy made a separate posts saying "Why? Why? Why?" cause of the Transcendent on the cover. It was funny 😂
GT10 was the best novel in recent GT and the worst part was the Bridge Builders Cabal Civil War on the bridge because the fight contributed nothing to the overall plot. Now that's comedy!
I remember a guy that hated that Accelerator got BTFO'd by Trismegistus so easily. That shit started memes cause of how ridiculous it was that the strongest Esper that implanted the Clonoth Tree was taken down like that. It's like one of those moments in Dragon Ball where Vegeta gets his ass handed to him by some new villain to show how strong they are lmao
GT is so disliked by some people that it retroactively makes people love NT, before GT NT wasn't as highly praised but it made a lot of people including myself go "Maybe I was too harsh on you." at NT cause it did so much more than GT has done.
Honestly I have no idea how others can't understand not liking an arc that puts Touma and Aleister in a saga where they're surrounded by mostly entirely new characters instead of an arc that already uses the characters we have and moves the plot forward. This shouldn't be a controversial take.
Resurrection arc ended up doing this to mixed results, GT12 was genuine garbage for how it treated Touma's death and Stiyl took GT9 CRC's title as worst Toaru villain, GT13 was mostly fine but didn't do anything too exceptional, GT14 was the same, GT15 was received well from what I saw though I had some negative reservations of my own but that's a story for another time.
