Crystals are very expensive in my country, and tarot cards aren’t sold here because my country is very religious. Hello everyone,
How do you deal with a controlling and narcissistic mother who sees her children’s independence as a threat, even though they are adults?
My dream is to move abroad, study in another country, and experience new cultures, but she completely rejects the idea of me studying abroad. She sees it as a threat and has also started using fear to discourage me, saying things like: “If you go to another country, you will be alone without your family, you’ll die alone in your apartment, and no one will know anything about you.”
I have tried talking to her about this for almost two years. I have tried to understand the fears behind her way of thinking and why she reacts this way, but at the end of the way, there seems to be no solution.
I have discussed it with her many times and tried different approaches for dealing with a controlling parent, such as setting boundaries, but nothing has worked.
Could anyone suggest more realistic solutions?
