Spiritual Variant - boat booking
Hi!
I’m starting the Camino from Porto at the beginning of September and I’d like to do the Spiritual Way. Do I need to book the boat in advance, and if so, how far ahead should I book it?
Thanks!

Pozdrav,
Hi!
I am coming to Porto to start the Portuguese Camino on Sunday around noon at the end of August.
I was thinking about buying trekking poles at Decathlon, and it says that it is open on Sunday. Is that true?
Also, where can I buy a pilgrim credential and a shell that day? The main pilgrim office will be closed when I arrive.
Are shopping malls or supermarkets open on Sunday? I would like to buy some food for breakfast.
Thank you!
I'm looking for a compact camera mainly for travel and hiking.
My priorities are a 3x optical zoom (around 24–70mm equivalent) or, even better, 5x optical zoom (around 24–120mm equivalent), plus a reasonably fast lens.
I know these cameras have become really popular and are often overpriced. I also know they won't match a DSLR, but I still think they have a certain charm that smartphones just don't.
I currently shoot with a Nikon D7200 and several lenses and I'm really happy with the image quality. The problem is that carrying that setup while backpacking or on long hikes just isn't practical.
I also don't really like the heavily processed look of iPhone photos. I used to own a Huawei P30 and I honestly loved its 3x optical zoom and Leica imaging. Sometimes I wonder if buying another used P30 Pro would actually make more sense than getting a compact camera.
Right now I'm leaning towards the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7. I also love the Fujifilm X100 series, but it's way outside my budget.
I'm looking to spend around $300–400 max, and I'm totally fine buying used (Europe).
Any recommendations? I'd especially love to hear from people who've used these cameras for hiking or travel.
Not on low-cost ones.
Hi!
Do you think it would be too much to do 5 days in the Dolomites (Piz Boè, Tofana di Rozes, Cinque Torri, and Delle Trincee) and then head straight onto the Portuguese Camino afterwards?
It would be my first Camino, but I’m in decent shape and trying to make the most of my vacation time.
Would this be enjoyable or just too exhausting? Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.
Pozdrav!
Savjeti i preporuke dobrodošli.
Hi,
I’m in my 20s and I need some advice.
A month ago I had severe grade 3-4 hydronephrosis caused by a kidney stone. They put in a double J stent, and somehow the stone passed on its own without me noticing. CT confirmed there is no stone now.
But CT also showed I have a congenital crossing vessel, and because I have a family/genetic tendency to make kidney stones, doctors told me hydronephrosis could happen again.
Because of the anatomy, surgery is risky, so my doctor advised me to drink a lot of fluids and go to a doctor immediately if I notice symptoms.
What worries me is how to live with this.
I love travel, hiking, camping, and I have dreams of going to remote places too. My doctor said I could be fine for months, then suddenly have an acute problem again because of the blood vessel and another stone.
I’m in my 20s and it is hard to accept I may have to live “carefully” forever. I can handle pain, stents, and procedures if needed - what is harder is the idea of giving up an adventurous life.
Can people with something like this still travel, hike or even go to remote places if they prepare well?
How do you deal with the uncertainty?
Any advice or personal experiences would help a lot.
Pozdrav!
Hvala puno!
