Just wanted to say that everytime ive posted here people have always been nice. Truely a place full of people passionate about orchids and who just want to share with others. Maybe its because this is a smaller subreddit but I have yet to see anyone be rude or nasty in any post or comment section. Im always happy to post or comment here (unlike in other subreddits)

Im at my wits end. Already lost some cattleyas to leaf rot and now this brassacattleya hamlyn's magic leliani is getting more of these spots. Only the cattleyas have gotten these. I grow dens, vandas, and phals.

I have increased airflow.

Im careful with watering

I spray it with physon 20 maybe once a month. I let it dry before putting it in light

I am careful to not get water on the leafs

I am fertilizing weakly weekly

Temps range from 72 to 85 during the day. Night temps are 68 ish.

Humidity ranges from 50 to 75 during summer

I have it under barina puck lights for 10 ish hours daily

Has anyone dealt with this? Is it normal? Please tell me im worrying for nothing. I dont want to lose this one.

This little nobile is putting out so many kelkis!!!! I had received it with 3 kelkis already! Should I remove the new ones after they grow a bit? Ive counted 9?

Earlier this year I had recieved one of these in a vanda bundle but it sadly arrived frozen. Fast forward to May... I found this one on sell on etsy and snagged it up!

It has developed more flower spikes? !?!?! and a kelki! It has 3 new growths too.

Is this stress spotting? It didnt have many roots and i got it like 15 ish days ago. I noticed the spotting developing like 4 days ago. Could it be too much light?

This is my Dendrobium Royal chip. I can't stand the smell of the blooms and the leafs on this are always blemished but she's a little trooper.

Flowers are around 2 months old and still fragrant.

Started growing mounted orchids around 2 years ago and never looked back.

Even the vandas in the terracotta pots are mounted on cork

I live in the upper northeast area of the USA. I get very cold snowy winters every year. I dont have a grow tent or an indoor greenhouse. I grow these on shelves in my bedroom.

I wanted to make this post as ive seen many people try mounting for the very first time with phals... Although I do believe phals are very good candidates I think there are better types to start out with. One of them being a dendrobium!

Dendrobiums at least in my experience are very resilient and can bounce back extremely well even if they are rootless or leafless.

Ive also found that dens can be more drought tolerant especially after being established so watering doesnt have to happen often or just a slight spray every 2 days will suffice.

As always I will recommend that you use cork bark. Really rot resistant and long lasting. Can be found on amazon, pet/reptile stores, etsy and many other places. For holding your mount i recommend zip ties. I get the variety pack in amazon for like 10$. For heavy dens like the ones above I only need 2 ties per mount. I was able to achieve this upright position using zip ties with no spagnum moss.

This being said if you want to mount please invest in a humidity reader. Mine cost 10$. Humidity plays a very crucial role in a mounts success. At least having a 35 or more read on your growing areas humidity will suffice imo to have beautiful and successful mounts.

Also you do not need to hang your mounted orchids. Mounted orchids can be arranged in a way where you can grow them in trays on a shelf.
