How I turned a reddit dm into a $1,600 website project and a lifelong friendship
Hey everyoneI wanted to share a recent win that started right here on reddit
A few months ago I connected with a startup founder from Russia looking for a full-stack e-commerce setup for their new clothing brand we locked in a deal for $1,600 covering everything from frontend/backend to hosting and long-term support
adnd it wasn’t all smooth sailing early on, we hit a massive wall with the site architecture their requirements were complex, and we struggled to get the structure right it took countless hours of FaceTime calls and brainstorming sessions to finally align our visions. We pushed back with our own suggestions refined the ux and eventually built something we were both proud of
the brand has officially taken off. the site has grown to 30,000 total users, with 2k–3k daily visitors, and the company is now highly profitable
The best part? we’ve moved past the client developer relationship we’re around the same age so we’ve become close friends and mostly just send each other memes now
