Last Chance for Hope Dies Last

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our AMA! We loved your questions and hope you had as much fun as we did.

As we enter the final few days of funding, we wanted to highlight some announcements about Hope Dies Last, namely that the second adventure zine has unlocked and we have announced our final stretch goal!

We'll be making two adventure zines, one for each of the campaign frames which are most voted-on by our backers. And we're also only a few thousand dollars away from unlock the third. That would mean we create pre-written adventures for each campaign frame!

But if we push even further and hit $60k, we'll work with Carlos Cisco, Daggerheart alum and creator of Pistolheart, to create a Hope Dies Last Subclass Zine. Every class, including those in Hope & Fear (that's 13, for those counting), will get a new subclass that draws from the themes and settings in Hope Dies Last.

We'll pull from all three campaign frames to identify those features and abilities that speak to defiance in the face of overwhelming odds, while also leaning into magitech, cyberpunk, and sci-fi flavor for the subclasses. Carlos will be the lead designer, but the entire development team will have a hand in creating a zine full of cool player options and incredible iconic character art.

You can check out our recent update to learn more about this and our other stretch goals, along with how you can help support the project.

Thank you again for all your enthusiasm! We're proud of what we've accomplished and can't wait to start building these frames, adventures, and rules.

We're the team behind Hope Dies Last, a triptych of Daggerheart-compatible frames. AMA!

Hi Reddit! This is Mike Underwood, one of the creators of Hope Dies Last, along with the folks at u/infinitecitadel. The project is live on Gamefound and has already unlocked several stretch goals.

Hope Dies Last is a trio of Daggerheart-compatible frames in the mode of defiant heroism, across the genres of epic fantasy, cyberpunk, and space opera.

We're here to answer your questions about the project, Daggerheart-compatible design, and more! AMA!

Deep dives on the three frames:
Bastion of Hope
This Time, Nobody Dies
Shine Your Last

Since we're not all in one place, I hope you'll accept the above as the customary verification picture. :)

Art credits: Verification photograph by Mike Underwood. All art for the project is owned by Mike Underwood and Infinite Citadel. Artists are Shaun Ellis, Will Grossman, and Bee O'Connor.

EDIT: We're taking a bit of a lunch break (as of 12:40 EDT) and will be back this afternoon to answer more questions!

EDIT 2: Bring on the questions, we're game to continue!

Our Cyberpunk Campaign Frame

Our followers voted and chose This Time, Nobody Dies as the first of our three campaign frames to explore in-depth. You can check out the update where we reveal...

  • The Pitch, Tone & Feel, Touchstones, and other frame essentials.
  • Lore about NEON, the mega-city ruled over by nine mega-corps who have a stranglehold over the domains of this world.
  • The custom mechanics - like CRED and Gear-based domain cards - that will bring the angst & catharsis of a truly punk world into Daggerheart.

We hope you enjoy this preview of what awaits in the first of three new campaign frames coming to Gamefound this September. Follow the campaign to learn more (and receive a special gift) as we get closer to launch.

We're happy to answer questions and talk further about the frame as well, so get in the comments!

Sol Sector Playtest is live!

We've hit a huge milestone in our fulfillment of the Mörk Sol Kickstarter: Sol Sector, the solo-rules zine, has core rules for solo play!

One of the many events we ran at GenCon were two sessions of Mega Sol - multi-table events where several crews of skavs worked together to survive a massive threat. Those events included solo players!

Having seen these rules in action, we're ready to continue opening up the playtest to more folks. First it's going out to our Patreon members (with the option to buy the individual post). Once we're confident that the playtest looks good, we'll be publishing the digital version for backers at any level that gets it!

You can read more about it here for free, and any paid membership unlocks the rules.

Hope Dies Last in RPG Party!

Infinite Citadel is teaming up with Daggerheart's own Mike Underwood to create a triptych of Daggerheart-compatible campaign frames where defiant heroes fight against overwhelming odds. Heroic Fantasy, Cyberpunk, and Space Opera frames bring whole new worlds, enemies, and mechanics to your Daggerheart campaigns!

Our project is part of GameFound's RPG Party 2026, and builds off the success of Mike's Bastion of Hope (the #1 bestselling paid campaign frame on Heart of Daggers) and the cyberpunk + sci-fi expertise of the Infinite Citadel team.

Together we're launching HOPE DIES LAST, which includes:

  • The first physical printing of the critically acclaimed Bastion of Hope.
  • Two all new campaign frames - This Time, Nobody Dies and Shine Your Last.
  • A Mechanical Nexus full of new gameplay options to use with these frames or in your own worlds!

We'll have more to reveal as the campaign goes live this fall, including stretch goals for additional books (each frame, along with the Nexus, are their own ~30-50 page volumes). For now, follow the campaign!

New Kinetic Skip Weapons

Over the next three weeks, we're opening the armory to unveil brand new Mörk Sol skip weapons, starting with a full range of Kinetic Weapons. The pinnacle of rock-throwing technology XD

As always, Free members get a blog that dives into our game design process regarding the topic at hand. We're leading off with some general thoughts about progression and long-term campaign in Mörk Sol, but we'll be diving deeper into specific weapon design spaces in the next update.

Stealth Skip

We've been building more and more skip modules for Mörk Sol, including (with some inspiration from our Discord members) stealth modules! Folks supporting at the Mage tier on our Patreon can start play-testing these mechanics right now. Everyone that backed the Kickstarter can expect these to roll out as part of the next update to Frame:ZERO.

Help Us Build the Module Manifest!

🚀CALLING ALL SKAVS!👾

We need your help building the best possible module manifest for Mörk Sol. As the game continues to take shape, we're sharing early versions of the game's material with our supporters on Patreon. Usually that's in the form of playtestable PDFs, but now we are asking for your input to help us shape the game's final form.

Our Skip building system is fairly robust, with dozens of modules providing varying abilities and static increases to the statistics of your spaceship. Modules are broken down into Grades (I, II, III, and Special) to represent their relative power level. Some modules are one-offs, only appearing at specific grades. Others have a clear progression through each of the grades. For example, more complex and powerful Helm modules represent your crew upgrading the engines. Each of those steps, from grade I to II and II to III, come with better stats.

How should we convey those progressions?

One option is formulaic, single-row entries that have some grade-based math. Another is to have rows for each grade and no dynamic values (more space, but simpler look-up).

If you want to weigh in (and also get access to a ton of great gaming content), you can join the Infinite Citadel Patreon. The poll is open for all members, including free!
