How Fall-from-Grace's Music Reflects the Philosophy of the Sensates

Hey everyone,

I recently started a game music breakdown series where I analyze music from games that have inspired me, exploring how musical choices reflect the themes, philosophies, characters, and locations within those games.

My latest episode is about "Fall-from-Grace" from Planescape: Torment. Alongside the harmony, melody, and orchestration, I also explore how I think Mark Morgan's music reflects both the philosophy of the Sensates and the character of Fall-from-Grace.

In particular, I argue that some of the compositional choices mirror the Sensates' belief that true understanding comes from opening oneself to the fullest range of life's experiences.

This is, of course, just my own interpretation, and I'd genuinely love to hear what fellow Planescape fans think.

Does switching to a fixed camera angle helps with rhe readability of my combat design?

I'm developing an RPG where you control a party of 3 characters, and combat is focused on gunfighting.

I'm trying to make the chaos of the combat area manageable. Do you think switching to this fixed camera view would help with readability, or do you think it would be restrictive as the game grows?

Is a Fixed Camera Worth It for Readability in Real-Time Party Combat?

Hey everyone,

A while ago I asked here about real-time combat in a party-based system (controlling multiple characters instead of a single one). I got a lot of great feedback, so I wanted to share an update.

I’m now actively developing the system, and I quickly ran into the exact issue many of you pointed out: real-time party combat becomes very hard to read and track once positioning, abilities, and cover systems stack up.

To address this, I’ve been testing a few changes aimed at improving readability. I go over them briefly in a short video, but I’m more interested in the design implications of the third one.

Two of the changes are fairly standard (cover transparency and X-ray outlines), but the third one is the one I’m unsure about:

Switching to a fixed camera angle when combat starts.

On one hand, it could reduce flexibility and limit certain design possibilities I might not be fully aware of yet.
On the other hand, it clearly separates combat vs exploration, reduces visual chaos, and makes it much easier to understand positioning, almost like watching a basketball game.

I’d be really interested in thoughts from people familiar with CRPG tactical systems.

Devlog #4 | Wasteland 3 Inspired Character Movement Feel

Hey everyone,

I'm an audio designer, recently started working on my own indie RPG, inspired by classical RPGs that used to have a real-time with pause combat system.

I've been sharing my development progress as devlogs, and in this one, I'm focusing on improving my character movement feel. I look into Wasteland 3, try to reverse-engineer some of its aspects, and implement them into my own game.

I'm also getting into some easy tips to make your footstep sounds feel more grounded and weighty.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

The Longest Tale OST Sneak Peek

Hey everyone,

Over the past two years, I’ve been working on the sound design and original music score for the action/adventure game The Longest Tale. As the game gets closer to release, the studio recently shared a sneak peek featuring some of the music I composed for the project.

The game draws inspiration from a wide range of mythologies and cultures, from medieval Japan to 1001 Arabian Nights, which gave me the opportunity to explore many different musical influences throughout the soundtrack.

You can check out the game here, and a wishlist would be much appreciated.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the music. Hope you enjoy it!
