Seeking recommendations for hidden hinge for DIY headboard?
Hello!
here is my first ever woodworking project, a headboard of my bed. I made it from poplar, I am really happy with it.
the idea was to have a compartment that is hidden that opens by a mechanism that i made and is working correctly, the issue, is that the 'door' that is rotating from the bottom, overlaps too much with the mattress (as it can be seen in the photo), and making quite uncomfortable to open.
What i thought is to cut this board (transparent in the CAD) fix the bottom small section and the top one make it be able to open as before. For the current setup i used a hinge as the one in the photo, almost of the same length as the door and as the door was going till the bottom of that face, i was able to 'hide' the hinge on the bottom.
My issue with the 'new/desired' configuration, is that i would like that the hinge is not visible, obviously the cut of the wood would be, but i dont want to have the cylinder/pivot part of the hinge on the outside. Reason for this post!
i would love to get some recommendations on how to achieve the desired opening with a hidden hinge? or another system? as it is my first project i might be missing something so i am seeking a little bit of help with this.
