Imagine We Get Tywin the Cupbearer to Egg?

Tywin, as a young boy, was a cupbearer to King Egg. Which is ironic, considering Tywin would grow to later reverse most of Egg’s efforts in giving benefits to the common people. It would be interesting to see someone who ended up the way he did under such a presence as Egg, and how those two characters would exist around each other. Imagine seeing it on screen in many years from now…

Am I cursed, or are my letters actually being delivered?

If you have any experience with any of this, or any understanding of the situation, please share your thoughts on this.

So, I sent a letter from Germany to the USA. I tracked its progress. It flew into the US with no problem in under a week, and travelled well in the USPS. Then it reached Albuquerque. The person I sent the letter to is in Santa Fe. But the tracking of the letter got stuck at the Albuquerque sorting centre.
I launched an investigation, and I received word that the post agencies said they could not locate the letter and that they consider it to be likely lost.
I launched the letter again, with tracking as well. My letter flew well, and travelled well within the USPS. Until it reached the same exact sorting centre. The tracking has been stuck there for over a month now, and I’ve started another investigation once again, likely with the same result.
My question is whether or not you think the letters could be delivered, albeit without the final scan? Or is that sorting centre just actually cursed?

(No Spoilers) Favourite Musical Piece From The Series? (GoT, HOTD, AKOTSK)

I know this has been asked before, but we’ve received much more musical masterpieces since. AKOTSK is beautifully scored, truly.

My favourite piece is still probably Rains of Castamere.

How about you?

What Was Your Reading Experience With The Book?

Did you have some sort of memorable routine? Or did you read it on your phone wherever?

For example, I loved to sit in an armchair with a mug of tea and listen to medieval music as I read. I knew others who just read it off their phones during business flights.

I’m interested if anyone else had any awesome times reading they’d like to share?

What Did George Mean This Week?

While commenting on the release of a leather-bound edition of AGoT, Martin said “Keep your eyes on the skies… another message is on its way.

So what do you think Martin is meaning to say, to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of his series (He’s spent half that time “writing” the most recent book)?

Is it about House of the Dragon? AKOTSK? I don’t think it’s an update on Winds, he’d announce it differently. Perhaps it’s more news about the Mad King play.

But what do you think?

I Wrote A Song About The Tragedy Of Summerhall

Yeah, so I wrote this a while back and didn’t know what to do with it. It’s quite long, but I hope anyone who reads it enjoys it.

The Lament of Summerhall

In the great halls of summer where the snows fall not,

There live the ghosts of a summer’s day, blazing hot,

An autumn leaf now falls on the seat of the King,

Summer whispers from the smoulders of a child’s cot,

In the great halls of summer, where the snows fall not,

In the ashen halls of silence, autumn leaves rot,

The Good King danced, danced and spun from the Iron Throne,

And spun away from the shadow of the great crone,

His was the song of summer leaves and honeyed feasts,

Like sweet spring seeds, he watched the walls and halls be grown,

He raised his seat, a triumph far from blood and bone,

He raised his sons, and gave sun to the glum son’s drone,

His son was a cloud of winter, mighty and cold,

Hair like snow, his heart hard as an anvil, and bold,

Now summer broke over him, and the ice did melt,

And his frowning, wintry face, as his sons he’d hold,

Broke into cracks of summer smiles, so singers told,

Here he was far from grief, warmth unbesmirched by mold,

In the great halls of summer where the snows fall not,

There live the ghosts of a summer’s day, blazing hot,

An autumn leaf now falls on the seat of the King,

Summer whispers from the smoulders of a child’s cot,

In the great halls of summer, where the snows fall not,

In the ashen halls of silence, autumn leaves rot,

Erupting from this warm earth, sprouted special seeds,

Watered by mellow rains, running through summer weeds,

The flowers bloomed and from their buds leapt bright children,

Two girls, dreamer, dragon, egg, and a boy that reads,

Children danced in a sweet summer that met their needs,

Summer snowflakes, children got to innocent deeds,

Winter to spring, then to summer, the warming air,

Witnessed the rosebud bloom, and the rise of the heir,

Now blossomed the sweet son and his stupendous knight,

They planted their own seeds, unleashed their petals fair,

In their halls of eternal summer, peace and care,

Summer birds sung, flew, unafraid of any snare,

In the great halls of summer where the snows fall not,

There live the ghosts of a summer’s day, blazing hot,

An autumn leaf now falls on the seat of the King,

Summer whispers from the smoulders of a child’s cot,

In the great halls of summer, where the snows fall not,

In the ashen halls of silence, autumn leaves rot,

On a warm midsummer’s night, the King dreamt of fire,

And woke with this dream, consumed with burning desire,

His brothers drank wine, flames, he had a writhing thirst,

For seven dragon eggs, the wild flame crept like wire,

Before friends and family, those called to this dire,

Spectacle, ritual, prayer that turned to pyre,

Rivers of fire washed out the halls, a flaming flood,

Conflagration of death, heralded by hot crud,

Summer burned that night, and the children of summer,

Death came for them all, in a crushing, blazing thud,

Green grass, sweet flowers, high walls burned to steaming mud,

No birds left to sing in the House of Fire and Blood,

In the great halls of summer where the snows fall not,

There live the ghosts of a summer’s day, blazing hot,

An autumn leaf now falls on the seat of the King,

Summer whispers from the smoulders of a child’s cot,

In the great halls of summer, where the snows fall not,

In the ashen halls of silence, autumn leaves rot….

A Conversation Only For Those Who Believe WoW Comes This Year — why do you think so?

I genuinely did not expect to see so many people think Winds is coming this year.

The reasons I see are pretty various: some think he needs just one more burst to finish, others think he’s riding the success of AKOTSK, others think the Bantam Books rumour quashing is reverse psychology. Some list anniversaries of previous books. Ha, one guy said it’s likely to happen because his girlfriend just started reading the books and the universe will spite him by giving it to her without a wait.

To all the people who will inevitably be pouring saying it isn’t coming… find another post to be miserable under.

This one is for all the people who think it’s going to be announced this year. My fellow summer children, why do you think so? Let’s discuss.

Anyone else using bloodydamn and gorydamn colloquially? Which one do you use more?

I noticed that ever since I read the books three years ago, I often say bloodydamn instead of any other curse word. Is this a part of any of y’alls vocabulary?

(No Spoilers) Could GRRM be trying to finish DoS before releasing WoW?

Obviously, we can’t know for certain.

The reason why I’m asking is that I’m fairly new to all this, just read the books. There are a lot of veterans here I’m sure have had decades more of familiarity with GRRM.

I am simply wondering if it’s something he would do. Would it be in character for him to wait to publish both books? Or is he the sort of person who wouldn’t resist publishing Winds once it’s done?

BEFORE the usual torrent of people saying GRRM isn’t writing comes, note that this is only a question about his writing style, not whether or not he’s writing Winds specifically.

Genuinely just a question to the veterans.

Your Winds of Winter Release Date Predictions!

Obviously, we are all exhausted by the endless rants of disappointed readers. We're all in the same boat, and while there is no wind (pun unintended) all we can do is blow into the sails ourselves.

I just think it would be morbidly entertaining for all of us to compare our predictions and expectations.

I've seen very different predictions online. There are the people who say it will never come. There are the people who've been saying it's coming in two years since 2011. ChatGPT itself said it expects a 2027/2028 release.

My favourite theory is that both remaining books will be released posthumously, but that's not based in any solid proof.

Considering the recent dig at Martin in AKOTSK, with Ser Arlan saying "a true knight always finishes his story", I wonder what you all think. Will he finish? When?

Do You Think They Should Have Shown Aerion Die?

I half expected to see a final scene, perhaps post credits, where Aerion drinks the wildfire and kills himself. I think it would be a poetic scene, but could perhaps undermine the finale.
What do you think?
