Fellow Fire (1996) Rats…

How’s everyone doing?

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve only properly gotten into reading my Chinese zodiac horoscope/predictions in the last few years or so, and I knew (going into the year of an enemy sign) this year might be rocky, but I didn’t expect it to be THAT bad. Specifically:

• Jan to Mar - Three close friends ghosted me (literally lost one per month) out of nowhere
• April - Restructure at work and disestablishment of my current role; they gave me a new role for the same $$ but it’s a lower grade and shittier title (but of course I am grateful to still have a job)
• May - Parent (Fire Horse sign btw) diagnosed with the big C

Shitty coincidence? Or the Fire Horse year in full force? I am exhausted and drained.

Coping with Mum’s diagnosis

After a lot of tests and biopsies, Mum has confirmed breast cancer (potentially late Stage 2 or early 3 if it hasn’t spread, though we’re waiting on more scans for some suspicious legions elsewhere).

I’m trying to hold it together (because this absolutely isn’t about me, and I don’t want to make Mum feel even worse) but I don’t think I’ve stopped crying since the mammogram came back basically confirming it was cancer a week ago.

I’ll be fine and joking with her one minute, and then something - even hugging her - will set me off. Is this a normal initial reaction that will settle as I slowly process the news? / Should I talk to someone?

I just want to be in the best possible state of mind to support her through this 🥲

Metastatic carcinoma

Hi all,

Following a mammogram and biopsy, my Mum’s results came back as “Metastatic carcinoma”.

We are absolutely stunned as, apart from a lump in her right breast near the nipple, she had no other symptoms. Both the lump and 1 lymph node (on the right side) have been deemed cancerous.

We’re meeting with the oncologist tomorrow, but I just want to ask - is this automatically a Stage 4 diagnosis?

Sorry if that is a stupid question, but we are both absolutely terrified. I don’t want to lose my Mum.
