Received an email I believed was spam but realized it was a legit ny life employee. Im a motion designer with 12+ years experience.

I responded because why not. She wants to set up a zoom call next week but I said before I commit to that I want to know what the role is and what makes me a good candidate.

Here is the original email:

Hello

I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to reach out because your background stood out to me, and I thought you might be interested in learning more about a Financial Services opportunity.

For someone with management experience, this can be an especially interesting career path. In addition to offering professional development, flexibility, and long-term growth potential, it can also be a strong fit for someone who enjoys leading, mentoring, building relationships, and helping others succeed. Over time, it may also create opportunities for broader leadership and team development.

If you’d be open to a brief conversation, I’d be happy to share more details and answer any questions you may have.

Best,

Here to vent about connects and people posing as clients.

I miss my salary job of 10 years and normal clients. I love getting excited for a perfect fit job, and I see them looking for an Expert but asking for $25/hour. Really? $120/hr is my normal rate. Ill dip to $50 if im in need.

Then I go to apply and I RAN OUT OF Connects. WTF is a connect. So i go order more. SO WACK. I try to avoid upwork but I have met my best clients there. After not following thru on a job, client hit me up year later and im working on sing 2 movie, high profile stuff big money. Thats a reason I stay. Alot are startups and if you do well and they like you more could come.

Oh forgot to add I'm a motion designer

Shameful

I usually avoid this thread because it makes me face the fact I managed to get addicted to snorting bupropripn. My vision is legit blurry now. I can just read the text sort a. How lame is this. I found a great comparison... adderall with everything butt the high only negative side effects.

Anyone relate?

Anyone ever have any incidents with a rack like this?

Rack

back in the day i edited high school football highlight videos and covered a combine for prospects. One kid was super long and went over the rack. they were using one of those u shaped type. Ive never seen someone flip so fast. he was fine but it was incredible, i wish i could find the footage

over 275 it feels like landing a plane with grave consquences and is part of the squat now, ive developed motor patterns lol.

Edit: HS football player was doing bench press at combine. And went over the u shaped hook things with no backing. He flipped back so fast its hard to belive he almost stuck landing. Iremember the spotter reacting after.

Issues adding debit card for withdrawals...

hey so I originally had 2 available options for withdraws--- one a debit card (instant) and the other a bank acct. i recently got paid and the debit card on file is old as I canceled and ordered a new one from bank. I attempted to add a new separate debit card from a new checking acct multiple times, incognito as well and kept getting an error that the card info was incorrect, or there was a technical issue. however despite this, for every attempt i received an email saying i successfully added my new card, but it is nowhere to be found as an option. to try something else, i decided to add another debit card I have, actually the updated one from the same account as the current active upwork card. I got the same errors, and emails confirming it worked. however, after a refresh i noticed this new debit card actually instantly replaced the current expired one. perhaps this was because it was the same account. i really want to use my new checking acccount, and despite the dozen or so emails i have confirming that my new acct card was added, nothing is there and the various errors i get when trying to add keep popping up.

bottom line i think their system is all messed up and glitchy. anyone have any experience?

My brain struggles mightily with webflow. I can code myself, but feel like im a boomer on the computer.

Anyone else have this issue?

m a sr motion designer who also knows to code and I'm updating my portfolio. There are just so many options, and then to edit css you have to dig thru pages, settings.. brutal for iterating. Any time i try to edit with the visual tool i break stuff. I wanted to go the route of text file, raw html but it seems so silly nowadays. the problem is these tools are so easy to use that they become unusable for me.

Edit: Also Im not ashamed of going the templates route but my god the amount of animation is overkill and i struggle to edit templates.

Edit: my current portfolio was stripped down because I realized the fire hover animations i spent weeks on dont play on mobile lol.
