Wood around toilet flange crumbling, ok to let it dry or replace?

Hi all,

This is a continuation of another post. Looking for some basic information. We recently discovered a failed wax ring and after removing the toilet, I stuck a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the flange and tile. It struck some wood which crumbled (red circle) and the screwdriver definitely went onto the wood a few mm into the tip of the flathead.

I understand this could be rot. If it’s just a small area around the flange that’s rotted, would the wood still have to be replaced or would it be old to leave the wood there if the rotted area was dried out if not too large?

Thank you

Leaking bathroom toilet? How to remediate?

Hi all,

This is my second rodeo. By the looks of this it looks like a second story leaking toilet in a water closet, if I’m correct? We had this happen to our other toilet in another bathroom upstairs and had a remediation company fix it thru insurance.

I think I can try to figure it out myself this time I got a good idea of what was required, however need slight guidance and best practices.

What’s the best way to take up the remaining toilet water after shutting it off? What’s the best way to take up the grout and tile, do I need one of those oscillating cutters or can I do it manually?

How much tile do I pull out? The damage doesn’t look too bad going out horizontally to the base boards but not sure of the damage going vertically.

What product do I use to kill the bacteria? Do I have to rent a dehumidifier or can I let it dry thru the use of fans?

Any information would’ve greatly appreciated! Thank you all

How is this under mount sink secured and do I have to remove it to recaulk?

Hi all,

Just curious how this under mount sink is secured to the countertop. Underneath it looks like it’s nestled within some trim but do not see any screws or brackets so far.

I would like to recaulk the area in between the sink and countertop as it’s dirty and moldy. Do I have to drop the sink to do this or can I just use a caulk removal tool and re-silicone? Thank you!

Getting an Intex 1800 gallon metal frame pool. Sand pump and saltwater necessary?

Hi all,

Thinking of getting a metal frame 1800 gallon 14’x7’ above ground pool for a decent price, and not sure how long it will last. Is it worth or necessary to get a sand pump, or go with their basic pump?

Also, is it worth it to go with saltwater or just chlorine tabs/liquid? I’m assuming I could hook the sand pump and saltwater system from intex together?

It might not be a long term pool, or it might. Just wondering if these are worth it or necessary.

Above ground pools in AZ?

Above ground pools in AZ - thoughts and maintenance?

Hi all,

Been thinking about putting an above ground pool for the kids. It would be setup over fake grass and directly in the sun.

Do you leave it up year round? What’s the best brand, pump or maintenance you recommend (chlorine tabs/liquid etc)? I am brand new to pools so any help would be great. Thanks

How to effectively get rid of mold on drywall?

Hi all, I recently had surface mold on drywall in a closet and used a bleach solution spray to “kill it.” Ran kilz over it and repainted, but looks like the mold might be coming back.

Is there a better solution or product I can use to effectively get rid of the mold? Thanks

Is eufy C31 faster and better than Outdoor Cam Pro?

Hi all,

I currently have 2 Outdoor Cam Pros but they are really laggy LIVE and I can’t even speak with anyone or hear anyone in real time. It is super choppy.

Is eufy C31 faster and better than Outdoor Cam Pro and less laggy? Or is it my internet connection? Thanks

What outdoor camera equivalent to Outdoor Cam Pro?

Hi all,

I have a couple of outdoor cam pros that simply plug into an outlet outdoors with a magnetic holder to keep it in place. I see they do not make this anymore.

I am looking on eufys website to buy something similar and faster, but everything online is solar powered. Is there anything else that can plug into an outlet? Thank you for any help.

How do I increase the brightness on my NBA Jam countercade?

Hi all, I just picked up an NBA Jam Arcade1up countercade. It’s too dim for my liking. How do I increase the brightness of the screen? I opened the back and just see a bunch of wires and a silver box that when opened is just a chip. I didn’t see and switches or knobs for the brightness. Thank you!

Is this mold in my closet? Trying to find the source

Hii all, I’ve discovered this staining and wondering if it’s mold and where it is coming from. I’d say it’s gotten worse over 3 years or so, it started as one little spot. The staining is only in the one little corner above shelving in the closet, there are no other spots. I do keep my hamper in there and clothing, hats, etc. The stain does not come off trying to wipe it.

As you can see in the pictures it looks like there are a few spots on the shelf also. Directly behind the closet is a bathroom shower, however the staining in the closet is on the opposite end where the drain and tub spout are. Running a moisture meter there is 3% with the pin and almost 0% with the pad.

If this is mold can it simply be coming from the humidity of the closet since there are stains on the shelf also and there is no moisture in the drywall? Or is it coming from the space behind the tub? Would I have to cut out a square where the stains are and check the back of the drywall, or how else can I investigate the source?

Any information would help! Thank you

Best lake and things to do with kids?

Hi all, I’ve done some research and noticed Canyon lake, Apache lake, and Saguaro lake mentioned on here amongst others.

I’m hoping we could get some recommendations on which lake is best for kids 2-10 years old and what are the best things to do there? It will be HOT, so wondering if we could go swimming (should we bring a pop up canopy),boat rentals, etc. Looking to spend 2-3 hours there.

Thank you!

WTF RXI Control Inventory

How do they expect us to do this control inventory if it doesn’t even work? I’ve prepared for weeks for this only for this to not work. How do busy stores expect to leave at a decent time?

Controlled inventory: adjust counts in RXI before or after day of inventory?

Hi all,

For controlled inventory, we like to perform counts on controls the day before inventory to help prepare and save some time.

The question is, do you adjust the counts on RXI while doing this and stock adjust before inventory day, or are we supposed to submit what we count on inventory day and that’s how the inventory finds the difference?

If we change the counts on RXI before inventory and then submit the same correct number the day of inventory, won’t the discrepancy essentially be 0?

What is the correct procedure? Thanks all
