Wood around toilet flange crumbling, ok to let it dry or replace?
Hi all,
This is a continuation of another post. Looking for some basic information. We recently discovered a failed wax ring and after removing the toilet, I stuck a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the flange and tile. It struck some wood which crumbled (red circle) and the screwdriver definitely went onto the wood a few mm into the tip of the flathead.
I understand this could be rot. If it’s just a small area around the flange that’s rotted, would the wood still have to be replaced or would it be old to leave the wood there if the rotted area was dried out if not too large?
Thank you
