[Remake] Is it normal to die frequently on the first go around?

Update: Thank you to this community!!! I'm hyped and motivated! Appreciate all the tips and advice.

Maybe I just need to manage my expectations, but I seem to die rather frequently in this game.

Playing on normal difficulty and getting used to control scheme. Only have an hour of play time and not completed Chapter 1 yet.

There is no quick turnaround nor any sort of dodge mechanic, which is absolutely throwing me off. I try to press usual dodge button, but I forgot it was binded to reload, so I get stabbed instead.

Also, Isaac seems to be rather clunky. Can I just run away from combat? Is there some sort of sneaking mechanic I'm missing?

Are the supplies plentiful? I'm seem to be short on medical kits.

I thought its going to be like RE4 (OG and Remake) which is compared to alot, but so far it hasn't been that fun.

I'm trying to play blind here, but I'm having a tough time.

Any tips and advice? Is it going to get better?

I can't stress enough how trees has reduced my electricity bill.

With height of summer coming, and inflation creeping up in everything, I'm so relieved that shade the trees on my property has directly lowered my electric bills. It reduces the need to crank up or even turn on my A/C. I've been managing to get a monthly bill in $50-60 range in the summer months.

It pains me that my neighbors are cutting down their trees and seeing their homes now fully exposed to the sun.

Fellow homeowners, hold on to your trees. They are resilient and can handle alot of punishment, and they will provide you shade, among other benefits, in the summer.

[Discussion] No joke, but who are these people and what are their lives like?

How da fuq do you get 18500+ Platinums? I can't even fathom that!

What do they do IRL? Don't they have jobs, friends, or families?

Is there some sort of monetary rewards for this?

What is the motivating factor to acquire this much trophies?

I'm just curious how and why in all of this. This seems insane to me.

I have been actively taking public buses since the spike in gas prices, and my wallet is less thinner but my psychological well-being has vastly improved!!!

Update: Wow! Did not expect the overwhelming positive response. I thought I was the only one in this community. Thank you!

Public transit in America is absolutely horrendous, and this is not compliment.

I do own a car, but I am grateful that there is public transit service near my home.

It is definitely not convenient, and requires research and planning. If planned really well, its actually timely, but will never beat the time when driving in car-dependent city.

Waiting for the bus though absolutely sucks, and there were a few times I was stranded for almost an hour because I miss my transfer.

The nearest bus stop is about a 15 minute walk from my home, and the bus frequency is only every hour, but it does take me to my destination (work, gym, grocery stores, post office, doctor's office, mall).

However, its the positive things that I'm surprised with. Not only I save on gas and wear & tear on my car, but I feel a little bit more pleasant, less angry, less tired, and somewhat fulfilled at the end of the day.

I get my steps and the actual bus ride itself is relaxing to the point I catch a quick power nap. I also don't road rage at all when the bus is stuck in traffic, its annoying but not rage-inducing.

For folks lamenting high gas prices, explore your public transit options.

[FFVII Remake] Finally got the Platinum, now I can move on to Rebirth.

Peeress of Pull-Ups is one of the most annoying trophies I have earned in recent memory.

Been trying it on and off for the past three months.

Beat Jules just by one.

...also inspired me to work on my pull-up game.

It was an absolute hoot playing Detective Phelps being just an absolute reckless @$$hole on the streets, running over Angelenos, destroying property, while accusing everyone of committing a crime without a shred of evidence.

What other memorable bat$hit trophies did you just have fun doing?

Update: Another reminder, I love this game. This is one most richest and densest games I've played in awhile, and regret not playing it earlier. I thought it just going to be L.A. Confidential the game, but it was way more than that. I absolutely love the surprisingly addictive unique game mechanic.

Fully understood the constraints the game devs.

I'm surprised about the aggro and vitriolic comments in this forum ... but it is Reddit. Its just a PSA folks. I don't know why people take it personal for criticisms like this. Most of folks in military are just ordinary folks doing a job, most are gamers like me, many appreciate games like L. A. Noire, and many comment on Reddit forums like this.

My experience was I got chewed out when I called a Navy Corpsman a "medic", a Marine Sergeant "sarge", and any Marine a "soldier." Like the police Captains chewing out Det. Phelps when he did shitty job on a case.

So pretty please, with sugar on top, be fucking nice to each other.

****

I love this game, but this is an egregious technical error.

The USMC do not have any medical personnel, but they do have Navy Corpsman. There was a cutscene where Lt Phelps did correctly addressed the "medic" as a Corpsman.

Additionally, you never, NEVER address a Sergeant in the Marines as "sarge."

This is r/mildlyinfuriating but somewhat immersion-breaking.

The devs and the writers could have just asked a random Marine off the street to correct this.
