American Civil War movie

I remember I picked "Historical Genre" on some torrent site and found this movie, long time after that I forgot the name of the site and the name of the movie. I vaguely remember it but I really liked the film and I want to watch it again. It's a color film but it is still definitely not recent movie. The film was quite humble, without much epic action. It follows Northerner army when the Confederacy's imminent defeat was already obvious. There's some civilian who accompanies the army and makes drawings of soldiers for his press (as I remember). I remember a scene where soldiers visit some farm and during the talk with the farmer they ask him which side he supports. Also at the end of the movie there's local battle between North and South armies with a river in between which both sides cross. The battle becomes difficult and unbearable due to the river's swift current, horses die and drown. Soldiers can't bear it any longer and begin to help each other, regardless of whether they're helping a comrade or an enemy. That's all what I remember. Can you help me please?

Fix Bashkir culture placement and de-jure borders of Bashkiria kingdom. Also changing their default names to be more etymologically correct.

R5: Wrong borders relatively to rivers and settlements. Some rivers are missing fully or partly. Suggestion for the easiest fix route is to add Kumertau, Salavat, Belebey (Beley Bolghars) and Siun counties to Bashkiria de-jure Kingdom and settle them with Bashkirs. Also I suggest to change Bashkir culture name to its original native form Bashkort, same with the Kingdom which will be called Bashkort Ile (the title will be named Bashkiria/Bashkortostan if a title holder is of east-slavic/persian culture relatively)
