Some Realizations Arrive Too Late.
A ceiling fan stops working. A tube light starts flickering. The Wi-Fi suddenly goes down. Something in the house needs fixing.
Growing up, these were never really our problems. We would simply call out, "Dad,".and somehow, things would get sorted.
What we don't realize at the time is that we're not just relying on someone to fix things. We're relying on a presence that feels permanent. Someone who always seems to have the answer, the solution, or at the very least, reassurance that everything will be okay.
I lost my father a few years ago, and only then did I begin noticing how often I instinctively looked for him in life's small moments.
This video reminded me of that feeling.So if you're in your 20s and fortunate enough to still have your father around, don't wait for a special occasion. Sit with him. Talk to him. Listen to his stories. One day, you'll face the same little inconveniences, but there won't be a voice from the other room saying, "Leave it, I'll take care of it."
