Imu does not or cannot use Observation or Armament. The Maki Luffy and the others sensed may have been mistaken for Haki, but Haki and Maki are not the same thing.
Haki may be the outward manifestation of one's spritual willpower, but Maki is the domination of another's spiritual willpower.
There is NO WAY Oda AND his editors allow Imu to get sneak attacked SO OFTEN with "Haki" so intense.
This Elbaf depiction of Nika is just their interpretation of the legend, Nika likely wasnt even a real person, but lets say Oda takes the low hanging fruit and gives Luffy the Sword and Shield.
The idea of Luffy using anything but his fists to fight puts a sour taste in my mouth, I don't think he'd even use the weapons if given to him. But these weapons blessed with the essence of freedom shouldn't go unused if they exist...
I believe Sanji will be given Nika's shield, a defense which can grow to any size... in addition to being a good conductor of heat. He'll be cooking opponents using a giant "frying pan" he heats with his legs.
Zoro will lose somehow his kitetsu -maybe Sommers bullies him and manages to break it- and he'll be given the freedom blade or whatever corny shit Oda comes up with: a katana capable of slicing though anything the user can conceive of cutting, provided they have the coc.
The final battle will be between the Strawhats and the Omen enhanced 19 weapons Blackbeard Pirates.
Now that the hype over the recent World Cup has finally died down, lets build an 11 man Brawl Ball team with a pool of all available brawlers.

We'll be using an emtpy showdown map.
Brawlers cannot stray too far from their starting position.
Brawlers respawn 1 second after death with standard respawn invincibility.
Don't worry about the composition of any enemy team.

Day 1: Defensive Midfielder.
They operate just in front of the defenders. Their primary job is to protect the back line, regain possession, and help the team transition from defense to attack.

I get the feeling that Toei will see the Manga's climax of the final war, the defeat of Imu, and the discovery of the One Piece treasure and turn it into a feature length film.

The light of the world will be snuffed out. Imu will appear to kill Luffy in front of all the strawhats, and Kuma or someone with the paw paw fruit will send the other strawhats away.
Dragon will save Luffy, abandoning the seige on Marijoa, and send Luffy somewhere far to grow stronger ( Dragon will use conquerors haki to send Luffy back in time!!? ), but no one can know he was saved. The revolutionary army will be defeated without their champion, and the world will be plunged into another era of darkness.
Each Stawhat will cope with the loss of their captain while dealing with pandemonium spreading across the globe. Imu will spread his forces outwards to snuff out the Strawhats who've escaped, granting covenant seals to any willling and able civilian/pirate/marine.
For example:
Zoro will return to Wano to help everyone deal with whoever has come for Pluton, also because Kuma is racist.
Nami willl be sent to Alabasta to restore order, bring rain, face a civilian or marine granted power by Imu.
Sanji will be sent to wholecake and join the army to save Pudding.
Franky and Vegapunk will be sent to enies lobby.
Robin will be sent to Law where they'll dissapear into the woods and live happily ever after.
Im not saying these will happen verbatim, but each of the Strawhat's missions will convince them that Luffy is still alive, and he will need them on Laughtale when he "ressurects" in 33 days.
Everyone who believed in Luffy will be on or near Laughtale to face Imu and his army of demons, and only in the darkest hour will the light of the world bring the dawn and fulfill his dream to make the everyone on the planet laugh at once, even the devil.
