Looking for advice on adopting a kitten...
A coworker of mine is fostering several kittens currently, and I was considering adopting one. I'm hesitant because of my current cat, who's ~10 years old.
Recently my brother and sister-in-law brought some kittens they had got from a friend of theirs by my house, and my cat hissed at them. Part of me thinks if she had time to adjust to a kitten's smell over time, like separating them with a door, she'd be okay with it, but another part of me worries she won't.
I've read that it can be good for some cats to have a companion for when the humans aren't home, and she's been alone since my other one passed in December of 2024. I'm conflicted about if it would actually be good for her specifically, and also about maybe letting her remain an "only child" so to speak so she can receive all of our love and attention.
Any advice would be helpful and appreciated. I'm open to answering any clarifying questions anyone might have to help give me better advice.
