How do you divide work between bots/beavers?

For me it's always bots doing heavy industry and beavers doing food and construction. I've also tried to keep them separated and make sure that the bots don't have the high ground in case of a robot uprising.

How much are you guys paying for an oil change?

I usually look on groupon for discounts, is there somewhere reliable that's cheaper?

Right now, the cheapest drive-thru place is $67 for full synthetic and $39 for synthetic blend at oil express. Valvoline is the only other quick-change place on groupon at $87.

What's the strangest request you've ever gotten from a client?

I run a solo shop and a new client I've never met wants me to text them to remind them to take a video of the area where I'm working at a specific time tomorrow.

On the one hand, I can just schedule a text, no big deal - business has been slow for me so I should be happy to do it.

On the other hand, bro: you're an adult, you should be able to remember what to do to hook up the TVs in your restaurant. Also: he's been really strange, doesn't listen to what I say, have to repeat everything 3 times, argued with me about pricing and has just been difficult. I just get weird vibes from him.

If I had a ton of business right now, it'd be one of those "fuck you" quotes coming out, but I'm not in a place for that right now.

Ever had an experience like this?

Pixel Support is terrible

Issue #1

I couldn't add another google account to my phone. The person I talked to didn't understand what I was trying to do, had me reset permissions for all apps on my phone, something that ended up taking hours to correct, and fixed nothing. They then wanted me to completely wipe *everything on my entire device* and said this was the only way I could troubleshoot this account adding bug.

Issue #2

Troubleshooting a data backup issue to the cloud - they just told me to do something that would completely wipe my data, 30 gb of priceless voice recordings. Then, when I called them out on it, they suggested I backup my data using the the cloud (the very method we're troubleshooting because it's not working).

I told them they needed to escalate this case and that they're potentially harmful to people and they sent me a bunch of auto-messages and refused to pass me off to someone knowledgable.

EDIT: "Terrible" isn't a bad enough descriptor, they are literally worse than nothing. Having no support at all would've been better on these issues than wasting my time when they have no idea what they're doing.

Is evaporation still bad with a 1-wide 3-deep irrigation canal?

Looks like I should make all my pipes and irrigation canals at least 3 wide right?

I looked up info, just wanted to see if I missed anything or they changed it.

DAE not like seeing their fav youtubers face?

When they've been just a voice for years, it feels weird seeing their face, like it's more personal than just a voice and throws me off.

I've connected only with their ideas and voices for years and them showing their face changes my perception of them - it's almost never welcomed cause it disrupts what I've come to know.

PSA: Free hazardous waste disposal

Looked far and wide for a place to dump old gasoline that's been sitting in my generator for 2 years. Without paying money or waiting for an event, there's only one place in the city.

  • Burton's Collision
  • 4384 E. Galbraith Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45236 513-984-3396

Found them here:

https://www.hamiltoncountyresource.org/#widget

This is a tool from the city that lists disposal sites, based on whatever you need to dispose of.

Made the files/permissions on Mac - Cause may be that I made the files on mac and did something with permissions there (it's been years with some of the files)

Things I've tried

  • Giving myself file permissions:
    • <<File Explorer → PropertiesSecurity tab → Advanced → at the top where it says Owner, click Change → type your username → click OK → check the box that says Replace owner on subcontainers and objectsApply>>
    • I also did this via the cmd prompt and it seemed to work but...
    • I am the owner of the files (confirmed when I look at their properties) but when I try to transfer them it says I don't have permission.
  • Using cmd prompt and robocopy with /B to bypass all permissions
    • Got a bunch of "The system cannot find the specified file" messages
  • Opening the files
    • Files do not appear corrupted, but when I try to open them, they don't open
      • Media Player says I don't have permission

>What may be the issue:

>Files are on an additional storage HDD on my PC. Some time later after formatting the HDD and transferring the files there, I had to wipe my SSD (with the OS) and reinstall a new copy of Windows.

It may also have something to do with creating the files on my mac and maybe doing something with permissions there first?

EDIT - Running "chkdsk D: /f /r" as we speak
