30m planning 12 day Balkan solo travel in May 2027

Planning a 12-day Balkans trip for next year and wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions before I start booking things.

The current plan is to fly into Slovenia and spend about 4 days based around Kranjska Gora. I’m mostly going for the hiking and scenery. Right now I want to see Lake Jasna, Peričnik Falls, drive the Vršič Pass, spend time in Triglav National Park, visit Lake Bled, and hike to some of the waterfalls around the Julian Alps. Slovenia honestly looks incredible.

After that I’ll head down to Croatia for Split for a couple of days, then Dubrovnik before crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From there I’ll spend a couple of days in Mostar and then finish the trip in Sarajevo. Sarajevo is probably the place I’m most excited for because I’m a huge history nerd. I want to explore the old town, learn more about the siege and the city’s history, and finally try authentic ćevapi.

I’m not really interested in nightlife or partying. I enjoy hiking, history, museums, photography, wandering old towns, sitting at cafés for a while, and eating good local food. I’d rather spend an afternoon walking around than checking off tourist attractions.

The only thing I’m still debating is transportation. Is it worth renting a car for the Slovenia portion and then returning it before heading south, or are buses good enough for this route?

Does this itinerary seem realistic for 12 days? Anything you’d add, cut, or spend more time on if this were your trip?

30m I am planning a Balkans trip for 2027 to try and get over a really traumatic end of a 5 year relationship, can you guys tell me if my itinerary looks good and tips of suggestions.

I’m planning a 12-day Balkans trip next year. Flying into Slovenia most likely depending on flight prices and spending a few days around Kranjska Gora doing Lake Bled, Lake Jasna, Peričnik Falls, the Vršič Pass, and the Julian Alps. Then heading down through Croatia for Split and Dubrovnik before crossing into Bosnia for Mostar and finishing in Sarajevo, maybe into Montenegro depending on how I’m feeling then I’ll fly home. It’s kind of my “I made it” trip after everything that’s happened this year, ive lost 50 lbs since my separation in april and I should be 100lbs down by then and I just want to hike in beautiful places see the wondeful historh of the region and try and clear my headspace completely during that trip. I'd also like to meet people and experience the beauty of the cultures in the balkans, and tips of suggestions are appreciated.

April 2nd to June 19th [30] M

360-312 48lbs down! Traumatic breakup, avoidant discard after 5 years together, living together for three. I walked out the day she told me she had one night stand over a year prior.

Zero empathy, little to no remorse, its been incredibly painful and shook me to my foundation but I used the pain to lock in on IF, working out, walking 5 miles a day and started back on my bachelors degree ive completed 39 credits since april 2nd as well! Im half way to my weightless goal and half way to my degree about 52 more lbs to lose!
