Chris Hines, Timberwolves assistant coach, on his Instagram story: "Discipline in leadership is contagious. So is the absence of it." Earlier this morning, Chris Finch said in his exit interview "It all comes down to discipline right now… At times our discipline came and went."

Celtics fans even started a petition:

“That eventually made the Celtics put me back into the starting lineup.”

RE: Kerr on three pointers, what if we got rid of awarding 3 free throws for fouls on a three point shot (until last min of game) (but keep 4 point plays). An 85% FT shooter gets 2.55 expected points from a 3 shot foul, equivalent to shooting 85% from three. A wide open dunk is much less efficient

Clarifying that I don't think changes are necessary at all anyways but if there had to be one, I saw a proposal from the creator of databallr.com that I thought was a lot more sensible than getting rid of corner threes:

"Look, everyone knows foul baiting is a problem, yet I haven’t seen many concrete solutions.

I have one.

Fouling a 3 point shooter should be 2 free throws, not 3.

It doesn’t solve foul baiting entirely. But it unquestionably improves the game.

Fouling a jump shooter is already a huge penalty. You turned a difficult shot into free throws.

But 3 shots is absurd.

An 85% FT shooter gets 2.55 expected points from a 3 shot foul.

That is equivalent to shooting 85% from three.

Think about what that means.

A wide open dunk is much less efficient.

Today I watched Austin Reaves run a high pick and roll.

The defender valiantly fought over the screen. He has to, in order to take away the pull up 3. He stayed attached.

Just as he got over the screen set by a 7 footer, Reaves suddenly slammed on the brakes, rose into marginal contact, and got 3 free throws.

That possession was worth more than any shot either team could have generated.

At that payoff, players are supposed to hunt it. If they don’t, they are playing sub-optimally.

Changing this to award 2 free throws still heavily punishes the defense.

It just stops outrageously rewarding the players who engage in the most annoyingly and effective tactics in basketball."

I personally wouldn't do this because fouling up 3 in crunch time would be even worse but could be ways to mitigate that like making sure 3 FTs are awarded for 3 point fouls. (Not a fan of ELAM ending)

Wembanyama elbowed a player in the neck after looking at him for a solid second, yet there are fans saying "he was fouled" like that's relevant

If Jordan Clarkson did what Wemby did to Naz Reid, I'm pretty sure everyone would call for him to be suspended lmao.
