This will be phrased terribly. But. Here goes. Is it possible to create a 3d printed object(s) from paper templates of certain shapes?

RP Archive has a great youtube video of magnetizeable custom shaped grass areas that requires you to print and cut around paper shapes. Just wondering if I could somehow create the shape of the grass patches in a thin 3D printed object and use those to just lay down on the plastic sheet I'm going to be making these grass tiles from?

The thought is to have a 3d printed object matching these shapes. Lay those over the plastic sheets he will then magnetize, glue, and sprinkle flock on.

Any suggestions for creating a magnetic board to mount terrain pieces to?

My goal/hope is to create modular boards that I can mount terrain pieces too without them moving around a bunch.

I also want to flock and use textured paint to do the normal sort of thing with it, so I don't know if that's even possible.

Seen loads of magnetic forest/dungeon/dnd tiles that are magnetized to connect to each other great, just hoping to add the bonus of being able to keep terrain fixed as well. But that may be a stretch too far lol

Not a major problem, terrain moving around, that is. But one I'd like to avoid if possible...

Black showing through top layer of white - looks worse in person. Is there a way to thicken it or add more layers?

Support for PLA/PETG material - Had a long print (approx 24 hours) and the supports were an absolute bear to get off. They came off clean, but took a LOT of elbow grease. Why is that? The time? Something else? I did manual supports painted where I wanted them, if that matters...

TIA

Getting to the "Need terrain storage options" stage lol... Thinking of mulitple big black and yellow storage totes, but need some dividers and ideally shelves to store multiple levels of things. Any ideas for that or other practical options? Saw dividers in Bambu studio but no shelves...

Ideally something easily accessible that can stack and be contained in a tight space.

Can anything further be done about this jagged look on top? .12mm height, ironing all top surfaces.

Been into this hobby less than a month. Want to make sure I’m not missing something… basically FDM IS supposed to take this long, right?! lol maybe these settings are over (or under?) kill? Just wanting it to look good on tabletop not necessarily need resin quality

Just crowdsourcing cause I don’t know what “normal” is if that’s a thing. For example, printing this building I’m estimated 19ish hours.

Settings I’m using are usually:

16mm layers Adaptive layer height, shifted all the way left to quality, smoothed, radius at 7 Ironing top layers Supports when needed using the same filament the object is and then the support material.

What is it about the Wizard compared to the Rogue that is taking so long with the same settings?

16mm high quality
Adaptive Layering and smooth both clicked
Quality/Speed all the way to the left, radius at 7

Is it just the nature of the Wizard's model and the hat/curved nature of it or something?

Ok community. First real issue I’ve had with my X2D. Printed 4 of these dessicant holders just fine last night. This morning I get 1 spaghetti error message and one about motion being blocked. What is happening?

Unsure what to do here. It’s failed at different parts of the print after printing 4 flawlessly overnight

Thanks to the community again. Your input has helped refine my prints. This one came out about perfect. Won’t even notice these once I use filler primer and paint. But just to push it a bit further? Anything to do about the tiny lines?

For the record, this is the bottom floor of a modular watch tower on Bambu studio, scaled up to 175% because the actual model is TINY and not at all plug and play. Make sure to check those measurements!

For this I used .24 on quality/speed, 8 on radius, clicked adaptive and smooth.

Best orientation for printing mini's? (I plan on using settings from the wiki with .2 nozzle) - Straight up on base...45 degree angle...cut and cutside down...cut and 45 degree towards the cut side...or something else? Bambu Studio - X2D if it matters...

TIA

BIG THANKS TO THE COMMUNITY! Terrain settings progress. Left is standard. Middle is standard plus variable layer height(I primed it so it’s a tad better than it truly was out of the printer). Right is after 45 degree tilt plus VLH and calibrating filament.

Not sure if there’s anything to do with the bad parts that remain post 45 degree tilt on the bottom of those blocks.

Does anyone have a profile, list of recommended settings or workflow print DnD/Warhammer terrain with? Especially looking to reduce these top layer lines…(I do know about adaptive layering but that’s about the extent of my “advanced knowledge”)

My previous post had lost of folks helpful feedback but for some reason Reddit isn’t loading it…so apologies if people see that and wonder why I’m asking again…hopefully it will work soon but any help in the meantime is much appreciated

Casualty of my youngest barbarian. Any suggestions? Not an FDM print but looking for FDM solution…

This was a cheap Amazon 28mm DnD mini. Didn’t know if the community had any suggestions to replace the hammer. Superglue only lasts so long, the handle of the weapon is very flimsy.

If anyone wanted a side by side of variable layer heights (and ironing) on something other than the typical stuff out there…I tested 3 small terrain pieces

This came out of frustration at the floor of a big ruin I printed. As always the community was fantastic. Did some further digging (and bouncing ideas and asking for help from Grok/AI to understand it better) and tried out a few test models for the type of thing I will print a lot of.

Pictured is the original model that led to this along with a side by side of 3 identical ruins. Left to right in that group is standard/no adjustments, variable layer height, then variable layer height plus ironing on all top layers.

Not real sure why there seems to be improvements everywhere except that top block on the VLH ones - and ironing didn’t make as much of a difference as I thought from the original VLH test models so not sure if I’ll do it or not in the future but very happy with the result. Should make post much less time consuming.
