(Spoilers Extended) Book quotes from book/show characters

“To Winterfell we pledge the faith of Greywater. Hearth and heart and harvest we yield up to you, my lord. Our swords and spears and arrows are yours to command. Grant mercy to our weak, help to our helpless, and justice to all, and we shall never fail you.I swear it by earth and water. I swear it by bronze and iron. We swear it by ice and fire.” (Clash of Kings)

Beautiful quote. Yet I was disappointed to learn that the Reed siblings never say these words in the show.

What are some interesting book quote that show characters never say but that they reasonably could have?

(Must be from A Game of Thrones - A Storm of Swords) and from characters who appear in both media

Because after that I think that when the show/books really diverged

[Spoilers Extended] Book or show

I haven’t exactly read A song of Ice and Fire or watch Games of Throne but I do know the story arcs for certain characters diverged at certain points and the ending may or may not be the dames

I read some side materials (Fire and Blood, A Knight of the Seven a kingdoms), watch a few clips on YouTube and twitter (most of them on Lannister family dynamics and the Starks s7 reunion), and examine a few discussion forums.

So what is better? The book or the show? I know the book have POV character which mean u can listen to their inner thoughts but the show have those amazing expression and let you see thing from an objective viewpoint.

Their also the fact that the book have this whole Dorne, false (or real Aegon), and new characters that cause the story to completely diverged.

But the books not even finished yet. And that really put me off. I don’t like unfinished book series but at the same time I can’t stand watching a show knowing the story ending for certain characters gonna be different.

Ex: Rickon Stark will likely have more to do in the books instead of being a plot device in s6. Or Sansa whose arc is gonna be completely different since she never encounter Ramsay. Still involve Littlefijget and the Vale but likely really different.

Jon Snow personality

Jon Snow honor? Did it came from being raised as a bastard child of Ned Stark or was it a part of his nature? Like say Robert Rebellion turn out different and Jon Snow lived as Aegon Targaryen and was raised in King’s Landing?

What kind of person would Jon Snow turn out to be? Maybe his mother would try and instill some northern values in him assuming she survived childbirth.

Thought: personality would be the same. Just without the bastard angst and doubt. Stubborn but
flexible because he have to spend his life in court

[Spoilers Extended] ASOI&F book character endings predictions? How much will be similar to their show ending..

Of the main characters who survived in the show (Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, and Tyrion Lannister) okay their more main characters but these are the prominent ones… from the show at the last episode

Which ones of them do you think their book version will have the same-ish ending?

Bran: Martin confirmed he going to be king in the end. Question is how many kingdoms will be under his rule. The show gave him six but maybe the book will give him more independent kingdom

Jon: I can actually see him going beyond the wall but it will be voluntary and not some punishment.

Sansa: well their the whole Vale plot she currently embroiled in and who know how the North plot. We still don’t know Rickon book fate nor the North as a whole. And Martin did plan on killing her. Maybe he still will or not. If we get a similar show ending the. It will be a bittersweet victory where she get what she want but it will feel empty like “was it really worth it?”

Arya: yeah I can see her leaving west and going on afventures but the reverse can also be true.

Tyrion: I think he one of those characters whose actor performance is why they were allow to live. I actually expect him to die or face a punishment beside your going to serve as my hand and fix every mistakes for the rest of your life. Of course if Daenerys turn out different 5ths who know? I imagine he will live the rest of his life broken and bitter.

[Spoilers Production] Was G.R.R Martin heavily involved in the shows

Learning that Game of Thone is based off of A Song of Ice and Fire book series excited me. Until I realize the book series never finished.

Let me see if I got this right.. The last book (A Dance with Dragon) came out in 2011 aka the same year as the first season of Game of Throne. Was Martin heavily involvedd in the tv show? Was that part of the reason for the delay in the book series? I wonder if working on the tv show cause him to think “maybe I should do this… or I want to see how audience react to this before I penned it down.” Example: how Martin plan to change Sansa ending because of her actor performance. Kinda suspicious that the next book didn’t get published within the Game of Throne tv seasons eras

Of course, the tv series ended 7 years ago but their also like spin-off tv shows, films, and movies and he like to write novellas and other works in his spare time.

I heard that he say about getting back on Winds of Winter but In pretty sure he spent the past year helping with the script for the Mad King Play and he likely gonna be busy with Aegon Conquest and future seasons for House of Dragon and Knights of the Seven Kingdoms.

Oh and I’m sure he reach that age where one is counting down to the end.

The last ASOI&F book he wrote is a history book (Fire and Blood) in 2018. And an illustration version was also release. It been six years since than.

Accoridngly from the book interview.. his plan was to write Winds, than Dunk and Egg, then Dream.

Oh and write the final half of Targaryen history.

About the ideas that Targayen have madness and greatness in them. Isn’t that basically the same and their no difference between the others. I’m willing to bet the good Targayen kings did things that wre completely crazy and nonsensical and the only reason they weren’t call mad because those actions benefitted and helped the people around them. And they never tarnished their reputation.

Ex: Egg Targayen. Friend to the common folk. Decide to perform an elaborate ceremony to hatch dragon eggs later in life in a great conflagration but wasn’t call mad even if that was a bit crazy. Or Prince Rhaegar who was prophecy obsessed and/or driven by love for a women in the north but wasn’t call mad.

I wonder if it gonna be more realistic if the White Walkers/Others invade Westeros (well the north really) during the middle of all the conflict than after.. when everything settled all decide to converge in the North for some reason to help out. And I don’t really buy the fact that everyone gonna converge in the North and ready to fight. It more likely that it just gonna be the North and their allies are gonna fight the Walkers at the same time all the other conflicts in Westeros are getting wrapped up

I was doing some light research on a Song of Ice and Fire and man no wonder the Winds of Winter isn’t done since George R. R. Martin plan to make it the climax where all those plot threads converged together (well leafing the rest to wrap up in a Dreams of Spring.

- For one let just look at the Starks for example.

Arya and Bran are still in their training phase as a Faceless Man or greenseer at the conclusion of a Dance with Dragons. I really don’t expect those 2 to return to Westeros until a Dream for Spring but maybe they will.

- Sansa and Rickon are currently being positioned to retake Winterfell back through diff means. Sansa through means of the Vale & Rickon through Manderly

- Jon is dead but likely ro revive. And speaking of dead/reaurrecrd Stark… we got Lady Stoneheaet aka Catelyn Tully/Stark who currently on a revenge streak.

And that just the Stark family side of the story. They’re still the other family..

Note: considering the next title a Dream of Spring.. I assume it gonna be like an extended epilogue where after all the fighting is done they’re gonna be rebuilding, reconciliation, and rebirth.

So I figure it the Winds of Winter is where all the big fights take place. The darkness before the dawn. Whether it for Winterfell, against the Others, for the Iron Throne, and other skirmishes. It will all or mostly be resolved in Winter. With Spring being the final issues where they try to heal

Interesting how they got rid of the news that X-Men will have 2 release in November. It likely more of an issue where the writer and writist need more time so having 2 issues in November may be impossible. And they are also working on DNX.

Of course.. it could be that something got cut off.

Wiccan: Witches Road #5. The long and short of this is.. even though Billy is the rightful Deimurge.. I’m glad he acknowledge Illyana and that she could be someone who deserves to wield it power.

By the end of this Year.. Jed MacKay X-Men run will consist of

44 main issues.

4 crossover events (Raid on Graymalkin, X-Manhunt, Age of Revelation, and DNX)

- 2 alt stories (Amazing X-Men, Book of Revelation, AOR Overture and Finale)

And DNX (5 issue)

Good for him. Also like how they decide to double ship the main series to speed things up. Still woth 3K vs X-Men coming to an head.. seem like like the end of the first big saga (of 3K)

Wonder after that if this mean McKay run is coming to an end or we’re onto second act with a revamped team or what?

Than again villains like Revelation, Sugar Man, or O.N.E could easily be pick up by other writers. It not like MacKay need to resolve every enemies the team Ah e before the end of his run.

Maybe it’ll go past 70 issues?

I ship Kitty Pryde and Illyana Rasputin but with how things are going right now in comic runs. I realistically can’t see the two getting together.

Kitty Pryde have more of a chance with someone new.
