In states countries that completely banned even silent use of personal devices in class what to do if a technological necessity occurs ie can sign in to academic site with phone but not the school computer?

Some states and countries are banning even silent phone use in classes in all state funded accredited educational institutions however does this mean cannot use smart phone to try to log into canvas or other academic websites when encounter a problem with the computer? What about for online classes both in whole or partial?

I understand there’s a great issue with academic plagiarism with AI these days on most every smart phone, which changes the long standing cell phones be silenced in class to total ban on use of devices at class hours. While most concerns on this dracon measure in a smart phone dependent age including for daily needs are mainly focused on emergencies that shuts down the schools land phone system like shootings, as well as medical needs, however there is also the dependency on technology ie needing to sign on to canvas and the computer isn’t letting one on but the phone those, unfortunately instructors and professors alike arnt really able to help in that situation. One cannot do any assignments unless they set it straight. I’m guessing this also means that teachers and professors cannot ask students to do anything that requires a smart phone anymore?

Recently know someone who had trouble with canvas on the school computer but was able to log in with phone. Can someone be put on academic probation if they misused a phone ie used ai in class and shared ai completed coursework it with classmates? Does this apply to ai use on computers as well? And whether matriculated students are treated differently than open enrollment students?

Have anybody found a better driver forum off Reddit?

Reddit is really just a cesspool of doomscrollers, PR groups, and bot these days. Dont expect any meaningful conversations for any Dasher related issues or anything else for that matter.

Does Amtrak still only accept cash onboard unreserved trains for ticket purchasing purposes?

It’s interesting aside from I hear the Capital Corridor I hear why Amtrak haven’t gotten in with the times? For contactless payment options. I do understand one can get around it and use a card one has a smart phone with internet, but it’s not available for any reason ie dead phone or no data signal than cash is the only route?

Btw Since many stations are no longer staffed since Covid I am guessing the $10 on board ticket surcharge seems obsolete?

How SJ business react to SB1053 in 2026 even though technically it shouldn’t affect stores within SJ’s city limits?

It’s interesting that San Jose and most Bay Area cities are officially technically exempt from Senate Bill 1053 that closed the reusable plastic bag loop hole Sb270 as they had ordinances that date prior to 2014 or when Sb270 took effect. That are grandfathered in as long as they don’t try make changes. In fact The city of SJ unlike most others, actually allows such “reusable” bags to be distributed w or even w/o a fee if the retailer desires.

It appears Target and Walmart still Voluntarily switched anyways likely to keep themselves inline with the rest of the state or to meet thier own corporate environmental goals.

What about Sprouts? It appears in other parts of the state with no local ordinances Sprouts stated they are not going back to selling paper bags, and now only offer larger bags for sale and definetely more than $.10.

I know many smaller independent stores simply don’t seem to care at all. However what about the other corporate stores?

Chaos in South Bay this weekend?

Year after year anywhere in the South Bay especially east of 87 is an absolute nightmare for those who not only live there but even just to travel through as not only are there a perfect storm massive protests, sharks games, and cinco de mayo rivalers who do side shows that may shut down up to half of San Jose, officers often do not let drivers detour around the traffic(meaning you finally reach an intersection and think you can breathe a sign of relief only to notice it’s blocked same with every other intersection except the ones they want you to take, and keep traffic diversion plans a secret to radio station and sit alert websites in order to keep rivalers from storming non closed areas for sideshows. But it’s just a nightmare for everyone else who must be in the area. Most people forget. Even if they remember, it’s not really possible to plan due to the unpredictably of the traffic and diversion plans, hi is it this year?

It appears they have no mercy these days no grace period, even though it still takes time to prepare food and be handed to the driver.

Like if someone in the restaurant call for emergency services and the restaurant receives a ping the driver is expected to arrive before the firefighter or medics do even though the food probably needs six more minutes to come out.

It’s interesting this is happening in recent years in prime real estate markets where people pay top dollars even for a trashed fixer upper. And are now attracting a new generation of internet urbex journalists who YouTube and TikTok their way that seem to appear like they can at least pay their expenses through college better than working shifts in the mall back when those were a thing. Ironically, many places they document are dead malls these days. Guess videos of dead malls are earning more than they could ever have earned doing a minimum wage job in the mall.

My state is pushing building more new despite public infrastructure concerns. But at the same time more and more places sit abandoned not just vacant. And getting blighted. Some of these happens to be projects that never materialize after buying off the land or gets delayed indefinitely.

Once upon a time this used to be mostly a rust belt issue. But nowadays even the most desirable parts of the world in real estate market are dealing with this issue. Anyone know why?

I Saw this video https://www.reddit.com/r/Transportopia/s/FdyDafKkUG

It immediately makes me think that’s how gig companies like GH expect their drivers to rush and deal with the cops. To meet thier very unrealistic etas. Like if drivers can fly like a crow or a drone to where they order them to.

It Doesn’t matter when the restaurant get the food ready, apparently if your late they cv(nearly impossible to dispute) you if you get caught and have anything on your background and likely are late as well they outright deactivate you no appeals accepted. But you have to get caught first. Otherwise time and speed is all the apps care. I am curious when these gig apps would face the same legal action as Dominos pizza faced years ago. I am pretty afraid of getting hit by a gig driver these days out on the road.

I am betting biker is a gig driver likely wanted for multiple scratch/damage and runs and evading officers quite a few times. Before this crash happened hence he didn’t stop at the light once he saw the cop car. Thats why he begged no emergency services and tried to make promises he likely cannot kept As it’s literally a death sentence to his likey only source of income and way of getting around. And no way he would be able to afford ambulance/hospital or bail from jail with this income.

These companies literally treat you like droids or drones. Their unprecedented ai geofencing power over drivers probably makes them worse than the old dominos pizza guarantee.

I bit concerned want to go the hour run to the visitor center and back. However it appears if I miss it or becomes full there wouldn’t be another bus back for another two days? So it’s a high risk run? It’s interesting why run a bus this way at all for any purpose.
