My dad is a manosphere cartoon and I am highly educated and self-aware, perfect in every way, but still need to check my choices with Reddit

AITA for telling my dad he's the reason none of his kids talk to him anymore after he told me I'm wasting my "prime birthing years" to go into law school?

So my dad has always been the stereotypical Christian Conservative man. This is something that, although I don't agree with it at all, I have always tried to be respectful rather than constantly trying to fight and argue with him about his beliefs.

He's always been against college as a whole, viewing it as "expensive liberal indoctrination." he would constantly ask for what classes I was taking and would have meltdowns over "liberal" classes. When I told him that I was going to study Criminal Justice bold enough to say he wasn't happy.

Anyways, so flash forward to 3 months ago when I finally visited my family after not seeing them in person for 4 years, and I decided to bring my boyfriend along. The entire time of our stay, he kept asking about marriage and kids, and my boyfriend and I would keep bringing up how we plan on waiting a little bit until we're more financially stable, especially since we live in a city where everything is pretty expensive. On the last day of our trip, I planned on buying my parents a nice steak dinner and really tried pushing about me wanting to surprise them with some really good news, since I thought that just maybe me telling them I got into law school would make them proud of me.

We got there, and I told them. My dad, he went on a rant about how I need to reconsider since it's a long time to be in college, how my scholarships surely won't pay for this, how about me making more money than my boyfriend could make him look bad as a man, how "who will take care of your kids?" and then blowing up even more when my boyfriend mentioned how there's a lot of remote accounting jobs that he honestly would prefer doing over in person.

Then finally, the dreaded words, "Don't you think you're wasting your prime birthing years as a woman to do this? What if you can't have kids by the end of this? A female's body physically can't handle not having babies before her 30s; don't you think you should focus more on starting an actual family rather than chasing this fantasy? Look at you, you don't look like a lawyer. What if nobody hires you? Then what? You now won't have anything. Why can't you just focus on your actual future?"

Dead silence across the table. It's like my heart dropped to my stomach as he said that, and out of me at that rate, being so hurt because I genuinely had it in my head that maybe for a second he could look at my hard work and be proud of me, that I told him, "You're so fucking selfish and ignorant. You treat all your kids like they're less than you and then wonder why none of them talk to you. Maybe for once in your life, could you have at least pretended to care about someone other than yourself?"

Bold to say this resulted in him damn near yelling at me and my mom having to get him to go outside to have a smoke to calm down. I've been told by my mom that although she's proud that I stood up for myself, I could have been way nicer about it. So AITAH for saying what I said to my dad?

Am I overdoing skincare or under doing skincare?

a few nights ago I noticed my chest was suddenly covered with with small bumps (third photo was taken without flash). That night, they were very, very angry and red so I didn’t use any product on my chest beyond the metronozidale prescription cream I use for rosacea on my cheeks and forehead. Between that and my red light box, they’re not as angry and red now but I’m baffled. am I not washing enough? Too much? am I overusing product? am I having a reaction to Cetaphil as I don’t usually use that and swapped that in? Is this a new expression of my rosacea’s yearning soul?

I have long covid and struggle with energy for truly consistent self care, but most days I rinse my face in the morning and use Derma-E moisturizer (I’ve used it for years) or Neutrogena’s newish ultra gentle moisturizer with a spritz of glycerin rose water and hyaluronic acidic underneath. At night I use L’Oréal’s glycolic wash or Pacifica’s balm followed by a Cos-Rx’s AHA/BHA toner. I then use my red lamp, followed by vitamin C serum and Derma-E moisturizer. I use azelaic acid intermittently for rosacea, adapalene and clearasil for spot treatments.

I started using that lactic acid moisturizer once or twice a week several months ago but hadn’t seen any reactions from it. Any ideas? I see the derm in October but I’d like to be able to wear something with a V or scoop neck sometime in the next three months. Thanks for anyone taking the time to read all this!

✨gastroparesis✨

I just got diagnosed with gastroparesis yesterday and it was not a shock, but I’m reworking my diet yet again! it’s been suggested I supplement with liquid nutrition, I had a meal replacement shake I was making but always felt sick after… well, apparently barley grass and wheatgrass are technically gluten free (which is not the best kind of gluten free, even if it is the best kind of correct) so I’m tossing the rest of it. does anyone have a suggestion for a meal replacement powder I can use?

Occipital neuralgia?

I have some success to share. after my last post here where I vented miserably, things got better. maybe the venting helped! I had a sustained week and a half of usage… which triggered one of the worst occipital neuralgia flare ups I’ve had in months. I’m looking at trying a new mask — currently I use a P30i, the strap in the back is rather thick and digs into the back of my head, and I need to sleep on my back part of the night to spare my shoulders and neck… which also trigger occipital neuralgia. It’s a thing, I see a neurologist, but she doesn’t know how to resolve this issue. I’m also in PT for neck/head pain but its on hold while I do long COVID PT.

has anyone else dealt with these conditions and have any suggestions? I’m looking at the full face mask, F30i. Any other suggestions? Now that I’ve experienced real sleep with the CPAP I wanna make this shit work!

“My Faith doesn’t like to be cooped up.” Happy Father’s Day!

He really did love her. I teared up a little just now watching Graduation Day pt 2 when he orders his henchvamp to find her. He was supportive, loved her for who she was while still trying to guide her towards happiness, gave her nice presents and knives, and he absolutely would still love her if she was a worm!

What do Doozer sticks taste like?

my husband is demonstrating to me that the fences and trees in the new Forza game appear to have the structural integrity of Doozer sticks and i am once again wondering what their taste and texture is like.

Six months in 🤦‍♀️🔫

I keep trying. I have chronic pain and don’t have a sleep position, the CPAP was supposed to help but hasn’t, if anything it’s had the opposite effect. I’m up all night and my sleep has been getting steadily worse for months. Ive been lurking and reading here and trying all the tactics i see and I’m miserable. I genuinely can’t do it anymore. I just had a huge panic attack because I feel like I’m being tortured. I wear it for hours awake and try to get used to it but it just keeps waking me up if I move even slightly, or triggering my occipital neuralgia with the straps on the back, or digging into my nose and irritating the tail of the trigeminal nerve with the upward pressure (yes, I have adjusted it. And then adjusted It. And then adjusted it again. And again. It’s basically my all night hobby).

When I did my test I was much heavier and my sleep apnea score was five, which I understood to be barely over the line. I want to sleep on my back so badly, it would help so much with my neck and shoulder issues but the cpap is making me feel pretty globally hopeless in an extreme way. I’m never going to sleep well, or even just okay. I feel like I should just give up on hoping I’ll ever feel better about anything.
