Card at Check In for Prepaid Rate

Hello. My sister is in the U.K. and I'm in the U.S. She needed my help booking her an emergency hotel room. I reached out through chat and communicated I was paying for the room, but it was for my sister. This was processed fine but I got an email saying that because it's a prepaid rate, the card used to pay has to be presented at check in.

My sister has her own card she was planning on handing over for incidentals, but obviously won't have my card. I asked chat about it and she said I'd have to call the hotel. I don't have international calling. I've emailed 2 different email address I located for the property, but it's the middle of the night there. My sister's cell phone isn't working. I called the generic Hyatt customer service line and they said they are unable to contact an international hotel for me.

Are they actually going to want the card that the room was paid for with at check in? That seems incredibly strange. Also don't understand why the woman helping me book didn't mention this to me after she suggested the prepaid rate, and knew I was booking and paying for someone else. Thank you.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island

Hello! Does anyone have any reviews for The Sanctuary at Kiawah? I searched in this group and found a couple of comments within posts. It's $1,000 a night and it only has a 4.6/5 on Google reviews and that feels low.

We live in NC and are just trying to find a weekend at the beach with a fun looking pool. 2 adults and a teen. We don't have a lot of options. The Cloisters is twice as expensive and 90 minutes further. We're hoping to go later this July.

Thank you!

How to Make Açai Bowls

Hello! I bought the Vitamix Alta Pro from Costco. Love it so far except the smoothie program seems to make my smoothies more of a juice consistency. I really want to do açai bowls, but can't seem to figure out how to make them without turning the açai into soup even when I don't use the smoothie program. Any tips? Thank you!

Please Help Me Pick a Model Based on Use and Various Sales

Hello!

My family of 2 currently has an 11 year old Ninja blender we bought because it came with individual smoothie cups. We rarely actually use the pitcher unless I'm mixing up french toast batter.

I digress. The Ninja has started falling apart and we're hoping to get a Vitamix. I'm wondering if Vitamix would help with blackberries leaving seeds behind, and getting kale to actually pulverize. The Ninja still leaves some random leaves.

What would be the best blender for making smaller batches? We love the individual containers because my spouse and I don't drink the same smoothies.

There are a handful of sales for the next few days between the Vitamix site and Amazon and I'm feeling overwhelmed. We only need it for smoothies made using frozen fruit. I don't need presets or to make soup. Thank you!

PH Chicago Room for 3

Hello! Family of 3 trying to book PH Chicago. Only their king rooms are bookable using points. No suites or 2 queen rooms. I was told my only option was to pay $50 a night for a rollaway after booking the king.

Am I searching for suites incorrectly? The calendar shows 0 availability for the entire year. There's also barely any regular room availability. Thank you!

Completely Lost on How to Plan

Hello! I'm sure I'll be downvoted like crazy, but I'm completely lost. My child has a milestone birthday coming up and wants to visit Japan. They are taking private Japanese lessons and are Nintendo obsessed. Other than that I'm getting no guidance. They just say, "It looks beautiful and the history is amazing."

My husband also says he'd love to visit but I'm getting vague reasons why. I have never been particularly inclined to visit Japan so am also useless. Of course it looks spectacular, but it's way down on my list of places I want to visit. Nothing wrong with Japan there are just other places I would rather visit.

I just feel sort of lost on where to even start. Because I have no understanding on where to start, travel blogs and guides are confusing. We would most likely stay a week to 10 days and tack on a trip to China to visit relatives. Any tips for someone who has zero clue what they're doing? Thank you.

Luxe All Inclusive Not In Mexico

Hello! I know AIs aren't typically luxe, but my teen read a book about a family on an AI beach vacation and has it in his head that this sounds like the best vacation ever. We're on the East Coast and would prefer something less than 5 hours from CLT or RDU if possible. We've been to Mexico and would prefer somewhere else. Most of the nicer AIs seem to be in Mexico. As for budget, I don't know. I'm willing to pay more for a nicer property if that makes sense? $2,000 a night for 2 adults and 1 teen. Thank you!

Confused About AA Hotel Booking Earn Rate

I know I'm dumb and I swear I searched this but can't figure it out. How are AA hotels base miles calculated? I know you get 5x for having a card and 5x for having status but...on what?

I'm looking at 2 hotels. Hotel 1 is $379 and with just the AA card it shows I'll earn 2500 miles so around 6.5 miles per dollar.

On a hotel that's $550 it shows 6500 AA miles which is almost 12 points per dollar.

What am I missing? Thank you so much!

▲ 2 r/Cruise

Hi! Family of 3 with a teen. We want something quick, maybe 3 nights and the only options that short are the Bahamas. We did a 5 day Bahamas cruise on the Fascination a decade ago, and it was fine. I've read that the short Bahamian cruises are often filled with drunkards and have a crazy party vibe.

Are there any ships or lines that would be 3 nights that aren't like that? Our 5 night didn't feel like that, but it was also a longer cruise. We want something our teen would enjoy. The Fascination was super boring. I know Disney is an option, but I'm not sure that's a great fit for the teen. Thank you!
