Would rhubarb do alright here and would it affect the silver birch?

I have a rhubarb in a pot that the neighbours gave me when they moved and it’s struggling in the pot.

I have a point at the end of my garden and was wondering if I could plant the rhubarb there? There is a silver birch but I would plant the rhubarb about 1m behind it. It’s fairly sunny other than the shade from the tree.

Clay soil but I would dig in lots of compost to a big hole.

How do you think it would do? It’s the only spot I have really. Also don’t want it to affect the birch.

What am I doing wrong with my rhubarb?

Hi gang!

Never grown rhubarb before and I’m struggling! I have it in a pot in a half sunny spot but the leaves keep dying off before they are big enough to harvest. If I don’t water it daily it seems to die even more.

Any tips? Also, how do you know when it’s ready to harvest?

What do you do with all your kids primary school exercise books?

Every year my girls come home with a stack of the exercise books they have used that year…I flick through them and then put them in a box in the garage. Don’t have the heart to bin them but what realistically am I keeping them for!?

What do you do with yours?

Can I use this extension lead temporarily?

Edit: You guys have worried me enough than I’m just gonna pop out and lurk at a local rapid once the kids are in bed.

Im going on a family holiday to scotland soon in our Kia eniro and on the way up and down we are stopping off at various friends houses overnight to break up the journey.

They have said I can charge at their houses but they are not EV owners so would be granny charged. They dont have plugs close to where their parking is so i was thinking of taking this extension lead. I would obviously unwind it fully. It says its 10 amp and has a thermal cut out.

It would only be for 2 nights and maybe I might not leave it overnight unsupervised...

What are your thoughts?

How to make this garden seem more private without losing too much space?

So this is our very oddly shaped north facing garden.

As you can see we got the dregs of space after everyone else got nice square gardens.

Neighbour has a huge willow adding a lot of privacy but further down it’s very open.

There is a sliver birch right at the end in the “point” of our triangle.

I crave the kind of garden I had when I was a kid where literally every direction was green.

Any ideas or suggestions what I can do without loosing too much playing outside space?

Courgettes going yellow and mushy

A lot of the courgettes on my plants start growing and then turn yellow, go mushy and then brown.

What am I doing wrong? Is it just the rediculous heat? I’m watering every other day

DIY Heat shields. Just need to add red crosses for ingurlund

It looks rediculous but I’ve hung all my painting sheets on the outsides of my south facing windows to try and block out some of the heat. Think I slept 2 hours last night so praying it works!

What is this plant my daughter came home from school with?

It’s grown very tall and can’t support itself and the leaves are shaped in a kind of cross.

No idea what it is or how to care for it!?

Help! My daughter is so proud of growing it at school I need to help it thrive.

Is Deya decent for football?

I’ve heard they have a big screen and decent beer. Has anyone been there for a big match? Thinking of heading there for the England game tomorrow.

First time making flapjacks! Can you make them healthier?

My kids always say how amazing their granny’s flapjacks are so I got the recipie off her and recreated. Surprisingly easy!

Any tips on making them a bit healthier for kids lunchbox snacks?

The great Aldi Mamia bar shortage of 2026?

These bars are great snacks for lunchboxes etc and the ingredients aren’t actually too bad…Last 4 weeks though these have been Out of stock and actually not even a slot on the shelf for them!

I’ve been to a couple of aldis in my area and none have them.

Has anyone else seen them and Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced alternatives?

Retiled, regrouted and resealed and still the shower leaks!

At my wits end with this bathroom. It was leaking through to the ceiling below and the tiles were falling off the wall so I had it all ripped out and redone.

Just tested it by blasting the right hand wall for 15 min and it’s still leaking through to the floor in the hall Nextdoor I assume eventually the ceiling below.

Plumber and tiler are coming back tomorrow to investigate but any ideas what is going on? It’s literally leaking in almost the same place it did before! Luckily I haven’t paid them any money other than Materials yet! His only thought on the phone was that it could be an “off” bag of grout?

The tray was not replaced but I have ran water directly down the drain and it’s definitely not that leaking.

Help!

Forgive my ignorance here, newbie gardener here….So I was tidying up the dark realm (behind my garage which you can’t see from the house) and burried at the bottom was an old ton bag. Inside it a couple of years ago I stashed a load of old bushes, hedge trimmings, grass clipping etc. I’ve pulled it out today and I think I’ve made compost by accident?
