It shall henceforth be forbidden to twirl without yelling. Sorry, I do not make the rules I only spread the word of Mimsy

This idiot is lucky I’m in the veterinary profession 🙃 she has pica and is NEVER left alone but the second I go to the bathroom or something she decides she takes the opportunity and runs with it

She has tried to eat rocks, sticks, toys, drywall, plastic, paper, fabric, qtips, toothpicks. She successfully ate a big chunk of a silicone can lid on Friday, which is a very convenient size for an intestinal blockage. Brought her to work IMMEDIATELY and tried to induce vomiting (she said wow guys this is fun spin me again!!). Did not work. X-ray shows she didn’t chew (why would she). I hid the lids in the only drawer she isn’t strong enough to open and she sniffed them out and was trying to put them through the handle 🫠 Miss girl might be starting Fluoxetine next week because good lord we’re on our like 5th foreign body scare and she’s only 7 months old lol. Does not appear that the pica is a symptom of anything else, she’s just an idiot. It is not for lack of supervision either I have not left her alone for more than a minute since I got her in Feb 😭 and mama is TIRED

Cat ingested a chunk of silicone.

Feline, 7 months, Female-Spayed, Sphynx/Devon Rex, 3.5kg

My kitten has PICA, and will eat anything (toys, sticks, rocks, plastic). Around 2.5 hours ago she was unsupervised for about 5 mins and stole and ate a piece of a silicone can cover. No symptoms yet. I took her to the vet within 20 mins of eating it we attempted to induce vomiting (unsuccessful). We took one x-ray and it looks like she ate the chunk whole and didn’t chew.

At this point I am trying to decide if I should take her for a scope asap, or monitor and see if it passes or signs of obstruction. I am really struggling to figure out what I should do. I have insurance, so I’m not majorly concerned financially. I’m just not sure what the chances of obstruction are, and if it’s worth putting her through the scope or trying to wait it out and I didn’t get an answer.
